t is on the beach and a 2 minute stroll to the byron bay shops. We stayed here because the rooms were of 4-5 star quality but the price was not as high as the other hotels that had restaurants and a bar etc..Lovely palce and would definitely stay there again

Belongil beach has something for everyone: expansive white sand, surrounded by rainforest, a river estuary with seabirds, crabs, schools of fish, dolphins, migrating whales, and one of the top 5 marine parks in Australia. It is next to Main Beach and only a few minutes walk to the main street of Byron Bay. There is a ship wreck a few breakers from shore for snorkelling. The view from the south extends to the lighthouse at Australia most easterly point. The view to the north takes in the hinterland mountain ranges and extends as far as the eye can see along the coastline. The beach and the surrounding rainforest are in pristine condition as nature intended. It's very beautiful and is my favourite beach.

have an evening jaunt in the heated spa, amongst shopping and lying on the beach across the road. Fantastic weekend, I will be back again in a flash.

"A Hippie Haven"

Byron Bay is an easy going holiday resort that attracts mainly backpackers and surfers. Really laid back in attitude, this resort is a great place to chill out and take in the hippie atmosphere. You can relax in one of the many cafes or on the gorgeous beach and watch the surfers on the fantastic surfing waves. Or if you feel a bit more active there are plenty of shops and unique boutiques to waste many an hour and dollar in! There are many cafes and bars and by night the bars sence is rather too enoyable.

"Great beaches"

Overall Resort Rating:

Conveniently situated on the coastal route between Brisbane and Sydney, this lively little town has got to be one of my favourite places on the planet. Gorgeous beaches, friendly people, a great night-life. A great place which is very popular with backpackers there is not a huge amount to do here, but the beach is great and surfing is a must.

Other recommended activities: tours to Nimbin (Australia's 'alternative' heart - the place to go for bizarre clothing, solar panels and cookies that will make you hallucinate), jam sessions in the park (bring your own instrument or just hum along). A really cool place would, would definately recommend it, in my case a week trip there ended out being a month!!

Plenty of things to do here, whether it be watching the sunrise from the most easterly point in australia or taking a day trip to Nimbin. Great relaxed vibe, good nightlife, surfing, good places to eat etc!

"Heaven!"

Overall Resort Rating:

Excellent

Open quote

I loved Byron Bay! From the gorgeous walks to the lighthouse and through the forests to the picture-postcard beaches it was just heaven. There were plenty of bars and clubs for late night drinking, little restaurants and shops for during the day if you had enough of the beach (if that was possible) It can be quite lively with lots of young bronzed backpackers but it all seemed quite family orientated too.
