"Worst hotel we've stayed in"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Poor

Dirty rooms. Rude staff. All inclusive advertised as finishing at 2300hrs but when we got there it ended at 22.30hrs. Locally produced drinks consisted of raki, ouzo wine and beer. All other drinks had to be paid for.

Holes in sheets and towels. Cobwebs in room with dirty mattresses.

Food very repetitive with chips and cake for breakfast but not lunch or dinner!

Full of arrogant and rude Dutch guests.

For the price we paid the hotel was o.k. after all you can't expect to pay 3 star prices and get 5 star accomodation and facilities can you? I would descibe this hotel as fullboard plus limited drinks to be honest and all inclusive. The reason for this is becuase of the set meal times that are very short, i.e. one hour at lunch time. Ice cream only served at lunchtime and dinnertime openings. The snacks at the bar during the day are really only the leftovers from breakfast or lunch and any thing extra snakcs you had to pay for. PLus you had to pay for the drinks after 22:30.

Porto Village are an excellent apartment, the staff very helpful and the grounds and pool area very clean. We had towel change every second day and linen change every 3rd day which is unusual. The apartments are 5 min walk to the centre of hersonissos with plenty of restaurants shops and bars to chose from.

All in all I would go back to Crete and deffo stay in Porto Village. Bring plenty of mossie spray as we were eaten alive.

These apartments were located half way between Hersonnissos and Piskapiano. There were beautiful, very clean, large pool, good food.
We ate in the small villages every night where the food is cheap and excellent. Loved Crete so much that I'm going back again in July.

Crete - what a lovely place! The apartment complex itself was so pretty set in lovely surroundings in the foothills of the mountains. It was about 300m up a road off the main strip so no taxi rides!

The staff were very helpful in the apartments, they had a lovely pool and pool bar (which satyed open late) and they did buffet breakfast at 3.75 euros which was a bargain.

The town itself was lively if you wanted it with plenty of bars and clubs. Restaurants galore and shops, some tacky but thats everywhere where its touristy. Make sure you scoff a Gyros as they are simply the best and drink the local Raki and Ouzo!!

First choice were great - no problems there, all in all a very enjoyable holiday will definately go again to Crete.

After reading reviews about Portos village l was very worried about going there.I was so worried that l did'nt tell my husband what l had read in case he did'nt want to go. I should not have worried we all had the best time.It did take us a day to settle in but after that all was fine.We had a 2 bedroom apartment so the kitchen and living room where in one and there was only a table and 3 chairs,so no where to sit and relax (apart from on your bed)but apart from that we had a great time. The rep was there twice a day and very helpful.we went on a trip to Chrissy Island, we were on the coach for 2 hours and when we got there the sea was to rough so we had a 2 hour trip back again. But that was not any-ones fault. We got the bus to Horsonnisos, which only cost 1 euro each, and a taxi was only 5 euros. It was a nice day out shopping and looking around. We also went to Mallia which was 15 euros in a taxi, that was a very lively place, but if you are 18/30 you will love the night life.

The owners of the village were really nice the granddad even gave us a lift into town when we missed the bus. There is now a pool bar which they built last year, the pool was very clean and we met some really nice people there.
When you go shopping please watch out because every shop window you look in the staff come out and ask you lots of questions which makes you feel as if you should go inside and l ended up with a lovely ring that was only £125 , but l would'nt have gone into the shop if they had'nt come out to get me.

So all in all we had a great time so much so that we may go back next year. There is a main road but it didnt cause us any bother and the planes did'nt wake us up.They give you one loo roll then you have to bye your own( we always take some with us anyway)so dont worry about going you will be fine.
