One brochure described Skala as a village that had become a resort. Having been there I now understand this. All the hotels are situated on the outskirts of the village. The people in the village are very friendly. Nice church and square. Plenty of tavernas , we ate at Manolis, The Flamingo, Mi' Abeli, Aquarious, La Luna, Apostolis. All good value. The beach is sand and shingle, treat yourself to beach shoes. 7 euros take away the pain. The sea does dip away very steeply, be warned. Lovely big beach not crowded at all. All the locals were very friendly. It really was a very special resort, very compact. I would recommend this resort we had a lovely time. Kefallonia is very beautiful Island and if you've not been then go, you won't regret it.

Beaches are crowded this time of year and for some reason they have big speakers banging out music. Perhaps it's a personal thing but I like to be able to hear the sea when I'm laying on a sun bed.

Had a really fab time having just returned from 2 weeks in Skala. It is a beautiful town with boat excusions leaving directly off the beach. I was really pleased with our choice as having dropped other tourists off in Lassi and Lourdas i think we had the better deal as we were much nearer to the sea!! Beautiful area with plenty of delicious restaurants to eat, you could dine somewhere different every night!!

This is a quiet resort, not suited to the party animal, main entertainment is eating and having a few drinks, and chilling out, nothing to do for children & teenagers locally. You wil require a car if you want to get out & about.

The resort is a good size,the beach is fab and the sea is crystal clear.There are no clubs ,,as far as i knew which suited us .we are not fuddy duddy aand like a good night out and this place had what we wanted,,trendy bars if you wanted and lots of places to have a meal and a drink.We were glad to see no "ENGLISH" FOOD places ie mac donalds.its greece and thats why we went ..there were lots of young couples but i personally wouldnt say its a party place ,,,good for me .its lovelly and not touristy.but saying that there is a realy nice night to be had when you go out and about skala

Skala is a nice little resort,its quiet so would suit mature couples,I would go back to Skala. The locals are very friendly,beautiful scenery.

This resort is not for the fainthearted. Beach is very poor(no sand), apparently was all taken for reconstruction of island after 1953 earthquake. There are a few restaurants scattered around, but I would not really call this a resort. The main street has 3 supermarkets, and a few average restaurants. The main problem is the hill leading to the 'beach'. It really is hard work walking back to Saulas, known locally as 'cardiac hill', and would be hard work in the height of summer. We came to this resort for a quiet break, but relented and hired a car for 3 days(was only there a week).

Fiscardo, seaside village on Kefalonia, largest of the Ionian Islands-Fiscardo itself is a dream, although dining out may be a bit costy.

Svoronata itself is a tiny village, VERY close to the airport. It has one mini supermarket and perhaps 5 or 6 restaurants (all delicious!). Ammes beach itself is clean and relaxing but there is no bar or toilet facility on the beach. (Just a short 5 min walk to Ammes pool bar though). For more action in terms of shops, bars, restaurants and the best beaches, hire a car and drive the ten minutes to Lassi - a slightly livlier and more "tourist" friendly location. The becahes around the area are all beautiful (3 euros a sunbed). Argostoli the capital is a short drive away (15 mins) and has lots of shops and bars etc. Hire a car...the best thing you can do! So much to see and do here! Nightlife here is more eating and quiet drinks - don't go if you want pubs and clubs, it's not that sort of place. The whole island is beautiful, friendly and would suit any couple / family looking for a relaxing holiday.

Not too busy. Plenty of tavernas and decent bars and not too british. Menus were varied and didn't look too british though we didn't eat out but did go for a few relaxing drinks. If you are looking for a wild night out this is not the place for you. Beaches are good and not too busy. Plenty of supermarkets nearby and one cash point about half a mile away from the hotel. It is a good base to explore the island and it is well worth hiring a car for 4 or 5 days to have a lesurely look at the island.

Lovely quiet unspoilt resort. Real get away from it all location.

Aghia Efimia is in the middle of the island on the coast. it is therefore central to the many beautiful places to visit on the island of cephalonia. The village is quiet and a wonderful place for anyone wanting a restful, relaxing time.

Very nice resort - friendly people. Wide selection of eateries and bars. Taxis quite reasonable to Skala. Easy to drive on the island.

Long sand and single beach, one main street with bars restraunts and a few shops , pretty resort with a traditional feel.
