Meganisi is a small unspoilt island about 25 minutes by ferry from Nydri on Lefkas.
Ferry is 2 euros but if you have a car leave it parked in Nydri and go as a foot passenger to save unecessary cost.
Vathy is a port with no beach used by the yachting fraternity and greek o philes. In a few years it will be more developed so the time to go is now. The other places on Meganisi are Katomeri which is inland and caters for needs of the locals and Spartohori which is the most developed with a few shops, tavernas and cafes. The port of Spartohori which is called Porto Spilia also has some tavernas catering for boat trips - it is the other stopping place for the ferry from Lefkas. In Spartohori the Lakis taverna does good food, cooked by Mama who is prone to a spot of table balancing on her head during greek nights!

In Vathi the Rose Garden, Stavros and Porto Vathi are your choice of tavernas and all are good - Porto Vathi specialises in seafood and Rose Garden has the largest choice. There are two shops in Vathi and two music bars - Petrino which is new and very chilled and the Boom Boom bar which seems to cater for local teenagers.
Different Studios are set on the harbour 2 minutes from the ferry where you can get a free minibus around the island.
There are 2 apartments for 4 and 6 twin rooms. Prices from 40 euros per night in high season. Rooms are behind the local off licence and are all clean with kitchen facilities, air conditioning included and balconies. Maid service is 4 times a week. You can book via there own website. We took Thomas Cook flights as there timig gives you an extra day to your holiday. We hired a car through Trident Hire on Nidri high street. They also do boats from Nidri harbour for a different day out around the islands in Nydri bay.
Meganisi is real greece and the Different studios are an excellent base.
