I would highly recommend these apartments. Bill and Matina were fantastic doing all they could for you. The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean and perfectly comfortable. There is a lovely little pool bar which does reasonably priced snacks. Felt very comfortable here. Great location in the middle of the island. It is up a track about 5mins walk from main road where bus stop is, 5 mins walk from nearest supermarket and 10mins from nearest beach. My only and I mean only critsism is that there was no saftey deposit box (tho I got the impression they have never had the call for them). Would definately return.

Just returned from our first holiday in Skiathos. We were VERY impressed.

The island is so green and the many beaches have beautiful blue sea and mostly soft sand. Our favourite beach was Vromolimnos beach only five mins walk from Xanthi Studios which are at bus stop 15, a short walk up a steep lane beside Infinity Blue Resturant which is fab with great views. We had not seen a picture of The Xanthi Studios and booked only two weeks before departing - we were very impressed, apartments, pool area, bar and gardens were spotlessly clean and well kept, good location, nice pool and sunbeds for everyone. Martina and Bill are so welcoming and the best hosts you could wish for.

The bar by the pool was great for everyone to gather in the mornings and before going out for dinner - with only 10 apartments every one got to know each other and gave tips and advice on where they had eaten and where to go. Green Park which is down a little lane beside Jimmys in Plantanis is a lovely oasis with great food. Hermes apartments have a taverna which serves great food. You need to hire a 4x4 if you want to see the north of the island and there are numerous water taxis to different places. We would heartily recommend Skiathos for a relaxing, beach holiday. The little town is not commercialised and there are many tavernas to eat and drink and watch the world go by, most with sofas or relaxing easy chairs besides tables. The bus service is great and its easy to visit any of the beaches.

We will definately be returning.

These apartments are a great place to stay being centrally placed for easy access to all parts of the island and having lovely views. There are three beaches within walking distance and numerous places to eat and drink, our personal favourite being at the Hermes apartments a short walk into the village.
The number 15 bus stop is at the bottom of the hill offering easy transport to Skiathos town or any of the other beaches. We really enjoyed the beach at Agia Eleni which is a wonderful place to watch the sun go down with your favourite tipple!!From memory this is bus stop 25.

Best of all are the lovely people,Bill and Martina, who run these studios they cannot do enough for you and everywhere is spotlessly clean.I have no hesitation in recommending these apartments or this resort to anybody,we booked a last minute break and all of our expectations were exceeded.

I stayed at the Xanthi Studios in Kolios from 2nd-9th Sept, 2005.

I booked my holiday through Olympic Holidays as a last minute deal and as their web site didn't include a photo of the studios, I didn't really know what to expect. However, I needn't have worried as the studios were fantastic. They are in a great location, overlooking a valley and out towards the mountains. My room was basic (as you expect in Greece), but spotlessly clean. There are about 10 studios in the complex (2 floors with 5 on each). All studios have a balcony overlooking the valley.

The studios are run by a lovely Greek couple, Martina and Bill, who also run the bar attached to the studios. It is a short walk down to the beach, down a fairly steep hill and then across the main road. There is a bus stop close by and the buses run along the coast in Skiathos town about every 10 minutes. The only minor complaint I would have about the studios, is the noise from the bar, which stays open until the last person has left. Some nights it was 11pm, but others it was open until about 3am, which isn't ideal, if you want to have an early night! However, this is only a minor gripe and I would definitely recommend these studios to anyone. Please say hello to Martina and Bill from me, if you go.

My friend and I have just arrived back from a lovely week in Skiathos and thought I'd write a little about the Xanthi Studios as no-one else has!

Xanthi Studios are situated on a concrete 'road' off the main Skiathos-Koukanaries road - about a five minute walk from bus stop 15. We booked through the Olympic website direct and saved about £40 off the brochure price and all in all it was good value for money (£212 each). There are only ten rooms on two floors and the pool (although a bit on the small side) was lovely and there were always ample sunbeds for those who wanted a lazy day round the pool. The rooms are typically basic for a Greek island but were well decorated and furnished. However, what let the apartments down a little was that they only changed the towels and sheets once during our week's stay and barely cleaned at all. (This is despite the Olympic rep saying that this was done on a daily basis!)

Kolios is very quiet - as other people have written on this website - there is only one town (Skiathos) and all the resorts are just a collection of apartments, hotels and supermarkets.

There are only two restaurants/tavernas in Kolios. I can thoroughly recommend the Infinity Blue (about 50 metres from the Xanthi Studios). Waiters are extremely dishy and efficient!

About a ten minute walk up the main road is Aghia Paraskevi (something like that!) and this resort has a far wider selection of tavernas to choose from. We tried a couple and the Green Park was absolutely brilliant - definitely the best meal we had.

Skiathos is a very small island and if you dont want to hire a 4x4 then the next best way of seeing it is by boat. We did two day-long boat trips - one round the island (15 euros) which stopped of at four different beaches for swimming (lovely!) and a day cruise on the Kassandra to Skopolos and Alonissos (30 euros). On both trips, dolphins were racing along by the side of the boats - fantastic!

If you want a real 'beach holiday' then Skiathos is brilliant. If, like me, you also like to take in a few sights, traditional Greek villages, shopping and the odd ruin, then Skiathos is not the best Greek island to go to. Having said that, it was a lovely relaxing break and I would happily go back at some point in the future.
