"Wedding holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We picked this hotel as part of Thomsons platinum packages plus their wedding package. My wedding day was truly amazing but we were so let down by this hotel. We were in a dark, damp room which traversed a maze to get there- no lifts. Furthermore our father in law was also booked into the hotel and the room he received was a mere shoebox where the previous occupants had been smoking. They refused to move either of us stating the hotel was full. The night before the wedding, we had enquired 4 months earlier about separating th night before, however our allocated rooms were not big enough to enable this. The previously full hotel soon found a spare room as long as we were going to pay for it! Previously advertised included wifi then had to be paid for. All in all it really put a huge dampener on what was supposed to be such a special time. We loved Sorrento but will never stay here again.

"Grand Capodimonte"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We spent a week at the Capodimonte last week to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. What can I say other than it is fantastic in every respect! The room was large, cool and spacious, very well decorated. The bed was most comfortable. The view out over the Bay was breathtaking and our balcony was huge. Food was superb, such good quality. The bathing area was great, a set of pools on different levels. Superb.

"Living on Reputation of Views "
Overall Hotel Rating:
We took the opportunity to upgrade to a room with a sea view and balcony, on arrival utter disappointment, the room (718) was down a small dingy corridor off the main route to the swimming pool, not only very small but smelling of musty dampness, the furniture was old and the bed was covered in a large cover on revealing underneath we discovered 2 very old single beds pushed together. The walls had damp patches and the air conditioning was exremely noisy and very poor in output. The partial sea and town view was from a balcony that was next to a area containing waste and other discarded items. The room safe could only be used at 3.50Euros per day, this was not advertised anywhere, ironing boards and irons not available, however ironing could be conducted by the laundry service at a cost!! For a Four Star hotel there was no Tea/Coffee making facilities nor was coffee included with the Half Board evening meal. A great resort but a Very Disapointing experience in a below standard room (2* Star Standard) from a holiday that was far from taken on the cheap.

"Neopolitan Bliss"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This hotel was where the wedding party stayed for my Mum's second wedding. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the setting is fantastic and the views amazing. Don't be dissuaded by reviews stating a rock face view. This is very few views and is the same for most of the hotels in Sorrento as it is all built on a cliff face. If you are happy to have a holiday where you enjoy the surroundings rather than the hotel (which if you ask me is a waste of money as there are pools for much cheaper in the UK!) then this hotel is a fantastic base. The interior is beautiful, the food exquisite, especially if you are lucky enough to be there for ferragosto, the grand buffet was some of the most ornate food I have seen. The hotel is not unsuitable for children but you will have to be prepared to spend time with them as there are no red coats to fob them off on, again though this is something I disagree with as they can enjoy the sights and sounds of Italy just as much as you can!
Overall an exquisite stay, would recommend to friends, oh and no tea and coffee but get a life those of you who let this ruin a holiday!

"Grand Hotel Capodimonte is excellent"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Chosen as a last minute holiday this turned in to an excellent holiday. Perched on the hillside, Naples Bay was a wonderful sight to wake up to as we were fortunate to have a sea view. The pools were adequate, but we hadn't considered having to pay for the sunbeds, but this didn't detract from a wonderful week made especial by the wonderful staff; we particularly enjoyed the piano playing in the reception/ bar area.

"Absolute delight from start to finish"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel was excellent, the staff was friendly and welcoming right from the beginning of the holiday to the end, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were lovely and comfortable. We had a sea view room which was spectacular and well worth paying the extra for. Pool was lovely if a bit chilly at first, waiters were friendly and amusing all through the day and worked very hard to please. Can't really fault it, just want to go back.

"We would return"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Lovely position with magnificient views across the bay. We asked for a quiet room with sea view. A few minutes easy walking and you are in the centre of Sorrento. Gardens are beautiful and there are several quiet areas if you wish to get away from the slightly noisier main pool area. Poolside restaurant & bar excellent service, also waiter service for pool drinks. Reception staff very polite and helpful. Good choice of food and only criticism would be the dining room waiting staff were under pressure when there was an extra event i.e. a wedding taking place in the hotel, resulting in long waiting times between courses. Do not think this is a hotel suitable for young children.

"Beautiful but beware the view !!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
I cannot fault the hotel itself. The views are absolutely amazing and the location is perfect, close enough to walk into the town but out of the way if you prefer. The only bad thing I can say is that if you do not book a room with a view, there is a large possibility that you will get 'NO VIEW' at all. We booked a double room with garden view and yes, we could see the garden... only just if we tip toed we were able to see some shrubbery above a wall. Seriously ! A balcony looking onto a stone cladded wall. We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, so to say I was gutted with the view was an absolute understatement. However, there are amzing views from various terraces dotted around the hotel so all was not lost.

"First trip to Italy"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This hotel is well positioned and within easy walking distance to the town. The full board food is fantastic- I was worried we were 'a la carte' as we were offered menus that were spectacular! We had buffet breakfast- a really nice mix of continetal, cooked and pastries etc- there is a chef present in th morning who will cook most things if requested for breakfast. At each meal the staff are attentive, and the maitre'd keeps thngs running smoothly. The restarant is very elegant and has a fantatic view down accross the coast and town below, its lovely in the evening. The hotel has a lounge/bar, which is lovely, a sophisticated feel to it, often paino or other gentle live music. The bar does great cocktails, but they are not cheap as they start at abou 10 euros. The reception is run effiecently, but the staff there can be a 'frosty' in my opinion- every one else in the hotel seems accomodating tho. My room was lovely- had a balcony looking towards the sea. Some of the roooms with balconies were not so nice, they were facing the cliff or next to the pool so little privacy- I would definatly say get sea facing as all of these seemed nice! WE had great trips organised by tour operater- these were not ceap either, but fantastic! Overall i would reccomend visiting this hotel- i will probably go back over the next few years.

"Capodimante"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have been to Sorrento a couple of times before and seen this hotel, last summer we booked it on a package with Thomson. Apart from the flights being slightly too early for our liking, the experience was easy with the coaches being laid on to get us to the hotel, much cheaper than the taxi!!! The hotel is fantastic, rooms are large and cool and the food is fantastic, best in an Italian hotel I would say I ahve had, and I have been to a few round the country. Views are magical too, it is high above the sea looking over the Bay of Naples.

Fantastic accommodation! Very expensive but definately well worth the money. The rooms are really quite big, and have sweeping views of the Bay of Naples. Food is out of this world - a lot of choice. And the pools are on 4 different levels. Excellent.
