A real gem of a hotel and location.Wonderful holiday, the best ever. Staff very polite, helpful and competent. Our rep Gerard was superb and very efficient and helpful. Facilities excellent. Only downside is mosquito problem -they are immune to DDT and much smaller then European mosqitoes and silent - thus hard to locate! Food was very varied, tasty, fresh and plentiful. Staff everywhere from gardeners to reception, shop and kitchens, watersports were friendly, kind, cheerful and helpful. Would highly recommend.

After reading a few negative review before going to Club Faru we were rather apprehensive, however once there we had nothing to worry about. The staff were very friendly and attentive especially the First Choice Rep Gerrard. The food was plentiful, wide choice and good quality. There is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere on the Island, which makes for an excellant holiday. There is plenty to do if one wants to, or very little if one doesn't. Overall we had an excellant time and were fortunate to meet some very lovely couple's and families. We would certainly like to visit again one day. Sheree and Al Essex, UK.

"Low key but brilliant"

Open quote

THe hotel itself is a little run-down but we knew that before we booked so were actually pleasantly surprised by their comfort. The staff cleaned towels and the rooms daily and couldn't have been more friendly. They went out of their way to help in every way and made the holiday for us. 2 free snorkeling trips a day more than made up for the lack of house reef and the paid for trips were also good value for the most part. The staff were happy to advise on where to go to see wildlife etc. The value for money was exceptional as the food was amazing, the all inclusive really was all inclusive (including water which was great) and they catered for all diets and nationalities. If you go expecting 5* resort you will be disappointed. If you go expecting 3* (which it is) you will be amazed that it hasnt got a higher rating. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Gerrard from First Choice was amazing in every way. He was friendly and made sure we weer looked after at every stage. We were told when we were there that First choice were not going there anymore, and that there was a possibility that the resort may close. On this I would like to give the following opinions:

1) First Choice SHOULD continue going there. It is an affordable resort for people who want to see the maldives but cant afford 5*. It may not be 5* but it is better than many 5* places on the things that matter: Staff attitudes, food and helpfulness and so it was a fantastic holiday.

2) Do anything you can to stop it closing down - PLEASE!!!! It would be shocking if this were allowed to happen. The people that work there need the jobs and it is so lovely and all the staff so lovely that it would be terrible if this were to happen and those people out of jobs. When we left I was in tears at th prospect of those people being out of work when they need the money to support families etc, and they were so nice at every stage (and so good at their jobs)

3) those people who work for First Choice (Gerrard in particular) should not be let go if the resort closes. He is so good at his job that you should make sure that you keep him on at another resort perhaps. We have met reps in the past who are totally useless and have never met one who was as fab a Gerrard and as good at his job. He couldn't do enough for us and all the guests and you NEED HIM in your company as your representative.

"Our Club Faru experiance."

Overall Hotel Rating:

Our room (No 97) once we had got past the expectant beach boys who after carrying our suitcase 15 yards expected a tip, was basic to say the least, although clean, the outside walls had countless coffee cup marks on them, the toilet door had a broken lock & was only held on with 2 screws, their were electric light switches which didn't seem to have any purpose, exposed electrical wiring sticking out from the side of the shower unit, a broken sink plunger & no running hot water, the only way I could get hot water to the sink was to take out the plastic insert to the waste bin, turrn the shower on to its hottest setting & fill the plastic insert & pour it into the sink, but apart from that it was fine.

Hotel is a little dated but very comfortable, huge rooms and balconys/veranda, food was excellent it is true there is alot of curries available but for me who can't eat spicy food there was so many other tasty dishes that I never had a problem finding something to eat, the reception staff were great, any little problem you had was always dealt with really quickly, the bar staff were very good at their jobs and the drinks were always more alcohol than mixers, nothing was watered down!!!! The waiters in the resturant were superb (Hassan) he was so good and took such good care of us. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, they are friendly and polite and genuinely nice people.

"Not luxury but pretty fantastic"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Open quote

I had the most amazing holiday but would describe the hotel as servicable but dated. Rooms were large (and the air con fantastic) but lacked the luxury which would be expected in the Maldives although, in fairness, this is reflected in the price. The bathrooms were old and needed tiles replacing etc. Outside the views are stunning (although one of the islands opposite not the prettiest site) but, again, the communal areas could use refreshing - replacing some tiles in the pool etc . All in all, a great basic hotel but works of warning (1) kids are allowed at this resort (despite what we were told) (2) the restaurant does not have enough tables for all so you will probably have to share (3) if you are going for the diving, they do not have their own reef but run two excursions a day (free) for snorkeling and (4) the one shop is expensive - $40 for a sun hat! We heard rumours that next season the place is being updated so this may be one to watch.

What more can I said than; white sands, Turquoise seas, 13 hours sun and the whole island is clean, the staff, managers are welcoming can't do enough for you whether its 6.30am or midnight. The rooms are no more than about 20 steps to the Indian Ocean, not to forget the infinite pool. To be fair; I cannot praise the staff, cleanliness and food enough!! Our rep was excellent and pleasant with no hassle - THANKS Guy!!!

Amazing resort island situated near Male - just a 10 minute speedboat ride from airport, very safe and secure resort, white sands, clear blue sea, fantastic snorkelling. 2 free snorkelling trips to nearby lagoons daily, one free afternoon trip to capital, Male on Thursday afternoons. Holiday rep lives on island, Guy, amazingly helpful, nothing is too much trouble, walks around daily- greeting us and readily available. Has great local knowledge. Not a great deal of entertainment in evenings, one karaoke night, 2 discos, a live band and a filmshow per week, great people on holiday - mainly from UK, Germany, French, Malaysian and Japanese.

Excellent value for money. Bit tired around the edges and could do with some updating in bathrooms and bedrooms but this doesnt detract from excellent facilities and food. Would not hesitate to return to Club Faru as it as an affordable and excellent Maldivian retreat.
