"Amsterdam"

Overall Resort Rating:

Very Good

Open quote

Plenty to do and see. The Hop On Hop Off bus is a good way to see the city with the Anne Frank museum and the Heineken Experience worth a visit. The one hour canal cruise is also a good way to see the other parts of the city. Food and drink prices are quite expensive with beer ranging from 5 to 8 euros a pint. The argentinian restaurants serve great steaks and usually at above average size portions.

Well worth a visit. Easy to travel around. Hotels difficult to find and very busy. Consider staying outside the city.

I expected it to be all booze, drugs and sex... Of which there is plenty. But the place is not consumed by it as many people imagine. There architecture of the city is fantastic and there is so much sight seeing to be done. It's a brilliant city to walk about in during the day and, of course, an even better one to get drunk in at night.

"I love Amsterdam"

Overall Resort Rating:

Excellent

I love Amsterdam and travel there regularly. There's plenty to do, it's safe and the food and drink is varied and reasonable. There's much more to it than the Red Light District and once you know your way around there's lots to see and do and plenty for all ages. It's sufficiently compact to walk around too.

Anne Frank museum is a must - but book your tickets online in advance to save queing. Get an IAmsterdam card - saves queing at all the places - and includes trams so makes it easy to jump on and off.

If driving park at the park and ride and they give you a free ticket for your journey into town.

Resistance museum is tucked away, but very interesting

Amsterdam is the perfect city for both families and fun lovers because it has the perfect mix of culture and nightlife. By day you can see the Anne Frank house and various museums and by night the red light district and the leidesplein are located in the centre of the city.

There is something for everyone in Holland, from families to museum lovers, to diamond enthusiasts and I dont think I need to mention facilities for the more relaxed tourists. The shopping is great, people are generally friendly and the public transport system is second to none.

"Beautiful city, "

Overall Resort Rating:

Very Good

There is much more to Amsterdam than reputation is sometimes gets. Sure it is a place where people go to party, but there is much, much more to the City than that.

It is a beautiful place, the canals and old houses are wonderful, there is so much to see, so many museums and works of art, the Rijksmuseum , Van Gough Museum and Anne Frank House are just a few of the many places well worth visiting.

It's easy to get around nothing is really too far away and while the tram system is excellent most places are within easy walking distance anyway. The people are friendly and there is a fantastic choice of places to eat out and if you look around you can eat at a reasonable price.

We visited in September and were lucky enough to have beautiful weather. There are so many things to see in the city and the people are very friendly. Everything is very close to the central square and easily visited in a weekend. The airport is only a short train ride away from central Amsterdam and hotels are easily walkable from the train station. The walks along the canals are very pleasant and food and drink and available on every corner.

Amsterdam is amsterdam and it does not disappoint. But this hotel is excellent value for money and costs you a fraction of what you would be paying in other hotels.

"Great for a short break"

Overall Resort Rating:

Excellent

I have only been the once but loved it! I was worried it would be all about the seedy side, but you don't have to see that if you don't want to. Amsterdam is a beautiful city, very unique looking with loads to see. We went during a heatwave and it was amazing, loads of gorgeous outdoor places to relax in the sun. You can get a city card which gets you free travel for your chosen number of days as well as free or reduced entry into lots of museums and attractions as well as discounts on restaurants - i would recommend getting this.
