Oslo is an amazing place to spend your holiday. The location is amazingly genius, next to a seaside, so you have the beach, and the beach lets you fully enjoy the all aquatic activities, for example swimming, scuba diving, sailing etc. It was all suitable for little children and infants. The cost of food and drink was extremely low, surprisingly. That was an added bonus, as you had maximum enjoyment for minimum cost. Eating out wasn't a necessity, as the food inside the hotel was good enough on it's own. The nightlife was amazing and unique, something that could only be provided in that particular resort. The things to see and do were amazing, unique, something that can only be experienced there. Overall, it was an exhilarating experience.

Trondheim review
"Trondheim is not a resort."
resort to a friend
As a city, Trondheim is gorgeous. Nidaros Cathedral is short bus ride away from the town centre, and well worth a visit.
Prices in Norway are quite high due to their increased tax, but it means the public services such as public transport and street cleaning is done properly. The people are very friendly and (thankfully for me and my monolingual boyfriend) speak amazing English for the most part. In fact, I got a wry smile from a shop assistant when I attempted Norwegian, and she replied in flawless English! Tourists are funny, even when you are one. :)
If you're ever in Oslo or similar and have a free day, Trondheim is worth a day trip at the very least.

Oslo review
"A pretty and very clean city"
resort to a friend
Oslo is expensive, especially for drink, but it's clean and very pleasant. It has lots of sights such as a new Opera House, the City Hall and the Royal Palace. It's also on Oslo Fjord with its pretty islands you can go to by ferry. It has some culture but it's not Rome or London, so seeing the art galleries and museums doesn't take long. However, in August it's lovely so I may go back.

I tend to find Oslo a place for all ages, whether you are a travelling backpacker or a couple or family, there will always be things for everyone of all ages to do. Within the area of the hotel, you have the Opera house within walking distance and the shopping malls and many museums to indulge in. If you don't want to do 'city things' and want to experience nature, then jump on a train to the ski jump at Holmenkollen which takes less than 20 minutes by train (which is loads of fun during the winter period!)

Plenty to see and do, the weather is not tourist-friendly though. The city is very clean. The prices are sky-high. Still worth a visit.

Norway may be extremely cold but it is beautiful and has a magical feel, wonderful for children and at christmastime the 'classy' not 'brash' christmas window decorations twinkle as you go by in a horse drawn carriage wrapped in fur blankets.... I would recommend to push the boat out and do this at least once if you have children. Skiing is lovely, nice wide slopes for beginners up to red and black runs for those wanting more of a challenge. Norway was the first place I ever saw millions of snowflake formations and was able to photograph them on my black skiglove... one word AMAZING!

"Norway in a Nutshell Tour"
resort to a friend
If it is possible for any one day experience to perfectly encapsulate the character of a country, then Norway In A Nutshell has succeeded brilliantly. But, most certainly not in the way that it intended. While it definitely showcases the extraordinary beauty of this remote country, it also showcases a introverted culture that has very little regard for its foreign visitors. Frankly, when it comes to hospitality, they act as if they just couldn't care less. Their trains and buses are filthy, their windows dirty, their helpful communications non existent, and any sense of adult supervision MIA.
The Nutshell concept is simple enough. Take a train from Bergen to Voss at 8:40 in the morning. Then take a bus from Voss to fjord ferry dock. To a ferry through the Fjords to Flam. Take another train from Flam to Myrdal, change trains a couple of times and end up in Oslo at around 10 pm. It's a long day if things go well. But, about a week before our Nutshell experience a fire in one of the tunnels along the train line from Mydral meant that we needed to be bused from Flam to Ai (?) to meet another train, which eventually got us into Oslo at 1:30 in the morning.
There were three serious problems with this situation: Lack of communications, lack of alternatives, and no one in charge. We bought our tickets on-line weeks in advance and had e-mail confirmations. But, the people in charge never bothered to e-mail us the news about the fire and its impact on the plan. Had we known, we wouldn't have gone. We probably would have rented a car and drove. Second, as we docked at Flam at 1:30 pm we watched as a train left the station less than a hundred yards away. Very nice job of coordinating the train and boat schedule! The next train wasn't for two hours.
So, now we, and several hundred other people had to wait around for two hours for the next train in a place that was little more than a train station, a burger stand, a mini mart, and a few pathetic tourist shops. At this juncture that we still didn't know about the fire in the tunnel. We only happened to discover this by accident when we asked in the ticket office about alternative routes, which didn't exist. The lady casually informed us that we'd be taking a bus that would be leaving around 6:30 pm. She said this as if it was common knowledge. Then she assured us that we'd arrive in Oslo at the planned time. Really?
Our issue isn't that we didn't get into Oslo until 1:30 in the morning. It's that no one cared. Clearly Plan B had been in place for a week and yet it was is if it was the first day for everyone involved. No one seemed to have a clue about what was going on, or if they did could they be bothered to inform us, not the bus drivers, not the train conductors, not the ticket agents. They just didn't care. No one who was ostensibly there to provide SERVICE seemed to have been informed that this was their job. We've never had a tourist experience like this anywhere in the world. It was just an amazing thing to behold: Laziness on a national level. They just can't be bothered.

The food and drink in stavanger is very expensive. There is bar all along the harbour which are nice to sit at on a sunny day. The city on a whole is very clean and tidy.

Oslo is a wonderful city that has plenty of culture, shops, cages and restaurants, and in winter especially, wonderful scenery. However, for those on a limited budget all of these come at a price.
Eating and drinking out can be very expensive; £10-12 for a glass of wine; £7 for a coffee; £55 for a Chinese meal, albeit with drinks.
Would we return - most definitely, as long as we had the money available to enjoy all that the city has to offer.

Short walk from the Central Station, easy to find so it was straight into our weekend break with no crisis....staff were excellent throughout courtious, pleasant and always helpful with the added bonus of not being intrusive. The room we had was a supreme double well worth that little bit extra, spa bath, shower, electric beds and a very nice television, mini bar and tea and coffee making facilities. had a well equiped gym, jacuzzi and steam room but we didnt use it !! the dinning area was pleasant and comfortable the dining experience was top notch for breakfast buffet there was hot and cold foods, afternoon pancakes which you make ourself was a nice touch and the evening buffet is served in individual portions also a nice touch so no big trays to be served from. the food was tasty, plenty of variety and sweet teats included. there is a large fruit bowl at reception which got continually filled up and if you wanted someting they didnt have they would go get it for you. tea and coffee was also available all day and night at reception. the reception is a nice quaint quiet place to sit and enjoy a cuppa before retiring. the night porter even offered to make fresh coffee at 3am for us as the coffee pot had been out for a while, which we declined as the coffee available was fine. can not rate this hotel highly enough they really did exceed our expectations. on check out we also got the use of the locker room as our flight was not until the evening. Oslo is a beautiful city with beautiful people we will defo be returning at some point in the future and this will be the hotel that we will be using as the standard is so high

A very cosmopolitan place. Very smart and stylish. lots of very nice bars and restaurants but without the large groups of parties which often spoil nice resorts. only downside is the expensive food and drink, otherwise it is the perfect place for a nice break. would love to return again and explore further.

Fantastic. Everything about the resort is great for families. It has all of the amenities of a big european resot but in miniature. No lift queues, fast modern lifts. Beautiful scenery. All of the resort staff are really friendly and make you feel at home.

Bergen is a small town with lots of character. I would not reccomend the town to people wanting to party all night but rather to people who want a pleasant time walking in the hills and enjoying great views. The town is an ideal stopover place to spend a weekend or a few days before exploring the fjord country nearby.
