"apartments"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Having booked the hotels apartments, we arrived to discover the apartments don't belong to the hotel, despite being full board in the hotel. We were given meal vouchers to use which made us feel like tempoary guests that had cut vouchers out of a paper. The apartment was 2 star, no balcony or terrace as promised. we overlooked the road, ground floor no privacy when dressing, so lived in darkness in the room for privacy?? great for our honeymoon. No sofa, the apartment was cold, all our clothes felt damp, the water in the bathroom sat permanetly round the bath sa there was no window or extractor fan. I used 3 blankets every night despite the temperature averaging 24 degrees plus everyday?? We complained that this was not the 4 star booking we had booked or paid for, the hotel did not want to know. The apartment lacked finese (north apt 13d) they must know there is a problem with these apartments, they were decorating adjacent ones. Finally after a week we had had enough and put in our review which gotthe desired affect, suddenly for the last 2 days we were moved to a very nice apartment in another block, balcony, sea view. We took this matter up with our booking agent during our stay, the hotel would not budge, and the matter is now in the hands of our travel agent, so beware if you are palmed off with these apartments.

"The best holiday ever!!!Really impressed"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We stayed in one of the appartments and we were pleasently surprised considering the price we have paid. We have also spend a lot of time in the actual hotel, using the free internet and chilling out in the lounge area. We were a bit annoyed from the beginning as they first wanted to place us in an appartment which smelt of smoke, and clearly have booked a non- smoking appartment. But after about 4 hours back and forth, we were finaly offered a non- smoking appartment.

"Great holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We arrived at half past 10 in the morning and we were told that our room wouldnt be ready until 2, so we went back at 2 to then be told it would not be ready until 4! we finally got into our room and it is the biggest apartment we have stayed in, it could of easily slept 4 or more and there was just the 2 of us. The pool area was lovely very private, you needed a swipe card to get in so only the hotel users could use it, nice snack bar was cheaper to drink beer than pepsi! there was a lot of trees by the pool so you could only lie round certain parts of the pool because in the afternoon you would be in shade, but plenty of grass to ly on. Steep walk down to the beech but the beaches were lovely! A few days into the holiday we lost hot water so for 2 nights we had freezing cold showers, but the hotel did sort it eventually. There were a few bulbs missing in the apartment and in the 10 days were stayed there our bedding wasnt changed ONCE! In the information book that is in the room it says bedding will be changed every 7 days, so we thought at least it will be changed once but all the maid did was liturally make the bed and every few days give us an odd clean towel! It was great to have a choice to either go to the strip or get a taxi into the old town which was well worth the 5 euros, some nice little shops and restaurants there where the strip has more clubs and bars so its whatever you fancy. Would definately recomend the zoo marine, the dolphin show was amazing! and also aqualand! Overall the holiday was excellent great value for money just wish it would of been cleaned more and the room to be ready on time!
"Avoid Apartment 105 block 16 Gandham"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just returned from these privately owned apartments. I booked through www.holidaylets.co.uk no. PA9028
The owner demands a £250 deposit 8 weeks prior to your booking and this is cashed immediately, very unusual in my past experience with private bookings. It means your £250 is in their bank account for approx 3 months.
The complex itself is lovely along with the hotel on the same site, however I cannot recommend apartment 105. It's advertised for 6 people, 1 twin bedroom, 1 room with bunk beds and a bed settee. The bunk beds are wholly unsuitable for children as they're situated not in a bedroom but a cupboard ! They're almost touching the ceiling they're so high and there is NO guard rail, therefore a potential 8ft drop to the tiled floor.
The soft furnishings have all seen better days and are very dirty, along with the entire apartment really. We made a list of 16 faulty items, these included in a very unsafe handrail at the top of the stairs which is hanging off the wall. Main socket in kitchen hanging out of the wall with bare live wires. And there were 9 bulbs missing throughout the apt, despite advising the owner they did nothing so we had to buy 6 packs to replace them all just to be able to see !
We booked the aircon for our weeks stay & paid an extra £30 for it. On the first evening we switched it on for approx 10 mins and water started pouring into the apartment from the unit and down the wall. It ran into an electrical socket which had iPod speaker and an iPod plugged in....they blew up in a puff of smoke along with a mini fire in the socket , so we turned the aircon off and soaked all the water up with towels. We asked the owner by text to get the "cleaner" to remove the remote so as they knew we wouldn't risk using it again. As no cleaner arrived during our entire stay, the owner now advises the aircon unit is perfect and wont refund the £30 let alone discuss the cost of replacing the iPod items (£200+) we never asked for that we just wanted the £30 for non use of a dangerous item.
Despite the ad stating a cleaner would visit twice a week to clean and change towels & bedding this never happened during our stay and we washed everything ourselves mid week.
I informed the owner of all the faults during and after our stay by way of an email and texts and then find myself £100 out of pocket as the owner has withheld that amount to carry out the reported repairs !! I have no recourse with the lettings company as they stated the agreement was between me and the owner. I don't know where to go from here ?....small claims court or the CAB ?
Can't recommend the complex enough but give the above apartment a very wide berth

"Great spring break"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We arrived at the hotel after a good flight at 10.30am, we were told the room would not be available until 4pm, please bear this in mind if you are travelling with young children or do not have the appropriate clothing for the day, it was boiling! The self catering apartments are one of the best I have stayed in, spacious, clean, well equipped and in quiet location with private well kept gardens. We had a terrace which backed on to the garden, it was not very private, but then it was low season so no one bothered us. Hotel staff were friendly and cleaners came every other day. Rooms have hair dryer, microwave, tea towels, etc, enough to be able to manage for a week or so.

"FAB apartments IDEAL location! "
Overall Hotel Rating:
We stayed here in Sept 2007 and Aug/Sept 2008 having booked privately with the owners off one of the many reantal websites available.
A family of four, we had a wonderful, fully equipped modern one bedroomed (double bed in bedroom 2 double sofa beds in living area) apartment.
Everything needed for a self catering holiday was provided - infact one could live there permanently, the facilities are so good!
The owners employed the services of a lovely local lady to bring clean bed linen and towels etc a few times a week. We brushed the apartment through etc ourselves - it really wasn't necessary for her to clean it, although she offered time and time again.
The totally private pool area is splendid, with a small children pool as well as a decent sized main pool. Set in landscaped gardens with a small play area for kiddies (and in huigh season, a medium sized covered bouncey castle set up in a shaded area) you can get to the beautiful beach from there, albeit down loads (and I mean LOADS) of steps.
The poolside bar offers breakfasts and tasty snacks for a decent price.
There is a decent sized supermarket less than 5 mins away which should pretty much cater for all your needs.
Check out the bars and restaurants in the area surrounding the apartments - no need to go to the Strip (10 min stroll) or Old Town (5mins bus/cab ride - bus stops opposite, taxi rank outside.)
Ones particularly worthy of a mention are:
Eddys Bar (GREAT breakfasts and lovely meals throughout the day till about 6pm. Terrific atmosphere of an night - always our first and last port of call each evening! )
Annabels (Fab value tourist menu as well as superb full menu)
Happy House (Chinese- excellent all you can eat buffer €9.45)
Neto (Lovely steaks)
In the immediate vicinity is also a pizza place, American diner, Fish restaurant, Dutch restaurant, Sushi restaurant - the list goes on.
And as I said, that's BEFORE you venture further afield to the Strip or Old Town.

"Quinta Pedra Dos Bicos review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
A-levels over, and we are off to the sun! Arrived quite late to find very spacious and clean apartments and headed straight to bed. Next morning started with welcome meeting with what could only be described as ";interesting green drinks";. Spent day by the pool and visited local supermarket, very handy 5mins away. apartments cleaned everyday with pyjamas folded neatly and placed under the pillow, often encountered the pleasant sound of ";we clean";, after certain members of the group certainly made the appartment their home for the duration by decorating the room with bizzare pictures including a picture of a naked big mo from eastenders-well whatever floats your boat.
Plenty of storage room in the wardrobes, some much that a full grown man could fit in the bottom shelf! tried and tested! We didnt have a toaster in the appartment but you can use the microwave bizzare as it may sound but at a particular setting it tasted just perfect! you also have the entertainment of the tv/phone screen that is in each appartment and outside the main door, pressing the button and shouting ";booo";across the street at random people walking past proved to be more amusing than you would think!...try it! slide and splash and a visit to the zoomarine were worthwhile visits in our 2 weeks there. Beware if sitting in the front row you are more likely to be picked to come up to the front in the sealion show this could involve you being kissed by a sealion and getting very wet!
the chinese just around the corner comes with our recommendation along with the Sizzling stone restaurant where you have the chance to cook your own dinner along with wearing a very fetching apron! If you go to the italian don't order the italian meats we never did figure out quite what all was on this plate!
A final stop for the eveing we would recommend the Coyote Bar suitable for kids and adults with a wide selection of ice creams and cocktails!Although 96 steps away the beach is worth a visit for both talent spotting and watersports bearing in mind if not an experienced ";pedaloer"; beware they may tie you to a stationery buoy but there is still a slide to play with on board! Also be sure to try parasailing if never have done before. If choosing to eat while on the beach, in the restaurant prepare to wait for a little while the food was good but as 4 of us ordered pizza they could only get one in the oven at a time! If any of your party are first-time sun seekers then please advise them to slip, slap and most definately slop on that suncream! handy tip-its natural yoghurt which eases the pain NOT strawberry...does leave u smelling gorgeous tho!
although taxis are handy enough to get just remember they are foreign drivers and always wear your seatbelt!!! some sneeze out the window onto unexpecting passers by!! The old town is however definately worth a visit with a selection of bars and restaurants however please avoid the one down by the sea view with the small cliffs behind there are rats nearby. We had to sit there long enough to get our dinner after being forced in by the over enthusiastic manager!they serve you stale bread and olives and without asking you if you want them or not then you find them on your bill at the end, the waiters didnt have a clue what numbers the table were and who ordered what. This was our only complaint and bad experience of eating out during the whole 2 weeks!
We were sad when the two weeks came to an end and would definately recommend this accommodation to anyone heading to the Albuferia region!!!
