What a lovely town, with a nice easy going atmosphere. There are plenty of things to see and do and any number of beaches to enjoy. If you rent a car you will get to see and enjoy a lot more, Try Luzcar for great rates. There is a great variety of pubs and restuarants to suit all pockets and tastes. Taxis are plentiful and cheap and there is an excellent local bus service.

A fantastic beach with a lot to do and a lot of people to meet. If you are British and do not want to be out of your confort zone, then this is the place to be. Nightlife is also good.

i had expected this to be a bitof a party resort however i was nicely durprised, it was far quiter and much more familr orientated than i had imagined. the ebach was beautiful. and there was loads of places to eat and the locals were all very friendly. we found everying t o be quite cheap, especisally compared to where we live!!!

The bus to the beach was great especially on the first day when we hadn't got our bearings and were tired.We walked back, a lovely long walk along the beach and into the marina. We crossed by a footbridge but later discovered a small ferry for walkers. The beach at the top of the prom was great for sailing equipment etc and lunch there overlooking the sea in the surf club was excellent value. Eating out in lagos was a real pleasure with really good quality fresh food at great prices. A good dinner for 2 with a bottle of decent wine was about 50euro.

Nice town and not too touristy , would say it was in the main a working town that caters for tourists Plenty of restaurants to chose from and all with a variety of food to suit all tastes

From the moment you enter the Plough & Harrow you can feel the friendly atmosphere The place is run by Jill with terrific staff and the food is truly superb, especially Sunday lunch. We had shoulder of lamb (and they served a half shoulder each) with loads of vegetables and it was true home cooking. The town is nearly all English so finding an English bar is easy if that's what you want but this one stands out from the rest and the prices are reasonable too. If you isit Praia da Luz give ths place a look.

Lovely resort, would go again! Lots of restaurant choices, lots going on. Cost of food and eating out was surprisingly reasonable.

ideal for families, couples, matures, in fact will suit everyone. Great beaches, Slide and Splash half hour away. Pretty Marina, Old Slave Market.

Not a very picturesque town, but we are used to the cobbled streets and fresh air of Lake Garda. Parts of the town centre are a bit smelly on approach. The restaurant street - rue de Abril, I think, was great, with a wide choice of restaurants. The beaches are along Meia Praia and NOT in Lagos. The are empty, peaceful and very clean.

Portuguese food is varied. Well marinated meat and fresh fish and salads .The restaurants in Lagos are a ahigh standard and are eat in or can quite often have lovely esplanadas where you can sit an look out to sea or the marina.The beaches are amazing coves and longer stretches of beach.Surfing is also a big thing in Lagos as it gets the big waves off the south west cape st Vincent.

The town itself had beautiful cobbled streets, and plenty of very friendly shop and restaurant staff. We visited various churches, and in the main people were pleased to share their knowledge and love of the different buildings. We ate at a different restaurant each night, and didn't have even one vaguely disappointing meal. It was lovely sitting outside in the warm night to eat, and seeing all the street entertainers.

This was a pretty amazing place, but the best part, for a skeptic like me, was the eight large paintings depicting the so-called "miracles of St. Anthony".

Some of these are so outlandish as to be laughable. They are actually fun to read about. In fact, the glossy guide book (about 3 euros) shows all 8 paintings in full color and admits, "Some of [the miracles] may be merely charming legends: but does this matter?"

Lagos is a place that offers everything a tourist can wish for. It is by the sea with beautiful beaches. It has a lot of historical sites and excellent café and bars. It is relatively less packed compare to the towns further east in Algarve. The historical sites are there for you to explore when you have too much of the beaches.

Lots of eating places, at night my friend and I always ate at the Vimar Grill. Meals outstanding, staff so helpful and friendly. Later in the evenings we went back to the hotel, where there was always entertainment.

All in all a great holiday in a superb hotel and a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I would most certainly be back.
