"Riu Atlantico"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The area was lovely for a very quiet getaway. I went there with a friend, both in our mid twenties but felt VERY out of place at the resort (april) as it was full of mature couples who wouldn't stop staring at a couple of very well mannered and friendly yet alternative looking young women. That was pretty annoying. The staff were good if a little abrupt at times and we weren't told that once you had chosen your seat at dinner, you could not sit anywhere but there for the entire holiday. No idea why and this made it feel like a school hall or something. The beach was beautiful, bus was easy to catch and town very easy to navigate our way around but if you're relatively young and want a little more than a very slow, lazy holiday, this is not the place. Also, no tea/coffee in the room and a safe, which usually comes standard, will set you back about €20 aaaand, the pool was not heated so FREEZING!!!! Beach holiday without swimming it was! Would recommend this to my grandparents for sure though.

"Lovely hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This hotel is perfect for all age groups apart from teenagers who may find it a bit boring, the rooms at the hotel are spotless and have a maid service each day, we had a room on the second floor with a sea view which was great. The hotel was very quiet and chilled out, we did not hear a sound when in our room at night. The food at the hotel was good, there were a few people moaning about it that was because they tried to have everything on there plate at one time so by the middle of there holiday they had run out of things to eat. The weather was very good a bit to hot really, we went to Seville which was very beautiful, but far to long on the coach (2 hours each way ) it was also 45 degrees and we were there for about 4 hours and most of the shops were closed for siesta. On the whole we could not complain about anything really our stay was very relaxing and comfortable, the reps at the hotel were very helpful much more than we have encountered on other holidays.

"Very Good Hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Just had week at this hotel. Highly recommended. Food excellent, lots of choice. Evening entertainment could be better, a couple of nights were ok. Staff very helpful and also Thomson Rep, Tanya. Not much to do in the evenings in resort, except stroll along the promenade which we enjoy. Only real fault with hotel is the beds, hard. You don't notice them the first night but after that you long for your own bed at home. No need to pay extra for sea view as you can see part of the sea from the rooms along the sides and we had nice room overlooking the river. Took trip to Seville, lots of interesting sites to see.

"riu atlantico"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The rooms could do with a little updating, the towels could do with replacing and the hotel ran out of tissues three days into our holiday, by the time we had left 10 days later they still had none. I had expected better from a Riu hotel. Buffet meals very good and most staff helpful and friendly.

"Fantastic holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel is very clean and all the staff are very friendly. Check in was quick and while you are waiting a glass of wine is offered. The room we had overlooked the estuary where you could watch the fishing boats come and go all day. Go to the welcome meeting where you will be introduced to the hotel manager and some of his staff. He really appreciated that you had picked this hotel and if you had any problems during your stay his door was always open. There are plenty of sun beds around the pool which is lovely and the beach is a two minute walk away over a wooden bridge where you will find sunbeds and a beach bar. If you want to go on an organised trip we would recommend the river cruise, what a fantastic day. The food on this trip was absolutely gorgeous, as much as you could eat and plenty of vino, dont forget your swimming costume as while you are waiting for the sardines to be barbecued you can go for a dip in the pool, in between courses entertainment was provided and by the end of the afternoon everyone was singing (could be due to the amount of wine that had been drunk!) The staff were absolutely brilliant here and the trip was well worth the money 55 euros each. The Atlantico has two sittings for dinner 6.30 and 8.30, we were given the 8.30 slot which was a bit late for us but after speaking to the head waiter we were able to change to 6.30. There are plenty of comfy seating areas in the hotel and I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The Thomson reps are very knowledgable about the resort and were at the hotel most of the time.

"Stress free holiday."
Overall Hotel Rating:
One of the most relaxing holidays we've ever had. The welcome party, which we always hate, was great. Plenty of sun loungers so no morning stress. Allocated dining table so no evening stress. Gorgeous food, plenty of choice. Spacious bedroom, which was absolutely spotless. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. No complaints at all.

"Beautiful hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Hotel was lovely, location a bit remote but standard of hotel made up for this. The choice of food at the buffet style dinner was fantastic, and the service was great. Rooms were lovely, as were the views.

"Excellent, Excellent!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Recently returned from 2 weeks at Riu Atlantico and must say it was one of the most relaxing holidays ever. Hotel was wonderful. All staff, headed by Juan (manager) and Vito (under manager) were very friendly and efficient, nothing too much trouble. Welcome meeting was best we've ever been to. Juan introduced all heads of departments and made us feel that our holiday needs really WERE their priority. We had room 3027 and it was comfortably furnished (loved the little sofa!) and kept very clean. We overlooked the river and it was a delight to sit out on the balcony with a cold drink late afternoon and watch the fishing boats coming back with their daily catch. It was spooky to watch them go out to sea when it was still dark at about 4 am too! Food in hotel was delicious, buffet to suit everyone with some dishes being cooked as you watched and waited. Hotel free bus to Ayemonte is great..... lots of lovely shops for bargains and a pretty little harbour. Not much to see in resort outside of hotel. Small square with a few bars and restaurants by the harbour but ok for us as we wanted peace and tranquility. Pool area in hotel gets very crowded but we found a quiet corner near to kids play area which suited us better. Most days spent on lovely beach which didn't get too crowded and had a nice breeze with a friendly little beach bar for lunchtime drink and snack. Sea was very cold at start of holiday but got warmer as days went by. Some days sea calm and other times a surfers delight! Hired a car to visit Seville. Cathedral worth a visit (Spanish wedding whilst we were there) but long journey didn't leave much time to visit elsewhere. Would definitely recommend and return.

"Excellent service at the Riu Atlantico"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This was our first holiday in a Riu hotel and we were very impressed. The Riu Atlantico is an impressive building, one of space and grandeur. We were greeted on arrival with champagne by the manager who was extremely friendly and was always in and around the hotel. You must make the welcome meeting, I have never experienced one like it before! All the staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean and the food was excellent. We were spoilt for choice-I think even the most faddy of eaters would be catered for. My only criticism would be that some times you did have to queue, but the food was being cooked as we waited, so that was to be expected. The rooms were adequate in size and decorated tastefully, it was nice to have carpets instead of tiled flooring, (there were no sounds of heels and scraping of chairs from the upstairs rooms). We had a side room overlooking the sea and the fishing boats coming into the harbour. The lovely beach was reached over a wooden bridge over the sand dunes just a short walk from the hotel. It was clean with just a small section of beds with umbrellas and a small beach bar with very friendly staff (not connected in any way to the hotel). This is definitely a beach-based holiday, there are only a couple of supermarkets and shops with a small choice of bars. We like to take a walk after dinner but there really isn't anywhere to walk to only the harbour, so that was a little disappointing. We did go to Ayamonte but unfortunately most of the shops were closed as the locals enjoyed their siesta, so make sure you go in the mornings. We really enjoyed the holiday overall and would definitely stay at the Riu Atlantica again and would recommend it to anyone else wanting a chilled out beach based holiday.
