We visited the Sunset beach club in May 2011 we were a group of 4 adults and 1 child aged 7 we all had a great time there was plenty of entertainment in the hotel.Service was first class and the rooms were spotless. There were 2 pools both were great and the view we had from our room was spectacular. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone in fact we have booked to go back in May next year.

The hotel was in a perfect location, just outside of the main marina so it was peaceful but you could still walk into the marina! It was right by the beach with a fantastic pool and childrens pool. The rooms were comfortable and clean with a good kitchenette and good storage! The restaurants and bars were excellent - especially the happy hour in the main bar! I would definately recommend and I would definately stay in this hotel again!

My partner and I really enoyed our stay here, and apart from a few minor niggles it's hard to pick fault with the place. Our room was very clean on arrival, clean towels and bedding. The air con wasn;t working on the first night, but as soon as we complained this was fixed very quickly. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom is very big! The pool and ourside areas are very well kept. We spent a lot of time in the pool as the weather was great. The hotel food was better than most we have sampled, especially for all inclusive. The deserts in particular were excellent, we had a few too many I think! All in all, great place to stay.

There is a fantastic playing area for the Kiddies right near the sunloungers so this was the best thing i personally felt the hotel offered as it gave the adults time to relax and enjoy the sun whilst the kiddies played right in front of us - it was so relaxing - and put our minds at rest as we could see them playing all the time.

The hotel does have entertainment at night but you do have to pay for this - it would be better if the hotel offered some free entertainment perhaps in one of the many bars it offers.

Very nice hotel, lovely big and clean on right on the beach. Booked for a stag do and everyone was very impressed with what I had booked for so cheap. would definalty look at coming back to this hotel if I returned. Was a little bit far from the nightlife but in a way that was good, as only a cheap taxi ride in the evening.

This is a large hotel complex, mainly a timeshare hotel therefore has to be of 4 star standard. its has 3 pools including a kids pool. it is set right on the beach and access from back of the hotel. it has a good childrens entertainment programme during the day. there is a supermarket onsite or a cheaper one just over the road. there are plenty of restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk . the port is about a 40 minutes walk if you walking slowly. i would recomend this to all familys and couples. there is a childrens play area as well as indoor pool and gym.

Just returned from a week at Sunset Beach Club. Found that the hotel was extremely well maintained, spotlessly clean, with daily maid service which we turned away twice as we felt there was little for them to do. Evening entertainment was very good both for us adults and our teenage kids. Overall, it fely very much as though the staff genuinely wanted to keep the standards of this hotel high and they achieved it!. When we arrived, we were put into a room on the 14th floor, which had a tremendous view, but I couldn't enjoy it as I am terrified of heights. I advised them of this at reception and they booked a reservation for us to change rooms on the Sunday morning and we duly moved to the 2nd floor. I was so happy and would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

"Benalmadena"

We went to the sunset beach club in June 08 and absolutely loved it. The whole hotel was clean, and had nice furniture. Our room had an amazing veiw over the sea and pool and a large balcony with table and chairs. In your room you had an airer for drying clothes, an ironing board and an iron. The room was lovely for 2 but would be cramped with 4 adults in there. The central lift area had different things on each floor, ranging from vending machines, to sitting areas, and even a small library. The pool area was huge with loads of loungers and deck chairs, we never had a problem finding empty ones together, and there was a really nice bar there which served snacks. At the back of the pool area there was a shaded soft play area and pool and table tennis tables. There was a large bar on the 6th floor which was lovely, and a restaurant on the 1st floor. in the hotel there was also a gym, indoor pool, hair and beauty salons and a few shops.

There was loads to do in Benalmadena, we managed to get a boat ride from the harbour for 10 euros each. we also went on the cable cars and to Tivoli world theme park. We went to aqualand in Torremolinos but it was packed and there wasnt much to go on there.

If you do go to Benalmadena get the bus from the town centre up to Mijas. It is a mountain village and absolutely gorgeous.

we will definately be going to Benalmadena again, and I would love to stay in the sunset beach club next time.

Transfers to the resort can be done via the electric train service if required, a 5 – 10 minute walk to the station, trains (every 30 minutes) to Benalmadena and taxi from there to resort saves about 15 euro each way for a couple.

1 bedroom apartment: - was a big disappointment - the smallest size encountered in over 25 resorts. Very small half – kitchen, tiny bathroom and small bedroom separated from the lounge by louvered doors which could actually be seen through. Although very clean we felt it was tired looking, old TV and units needs replacement. Another first was their charging policies: we have never before had to pay to use an inside pool or Jacuzzi but you do here – 20 euro per week to join the Health Club…!!! We knew about a local charge for electricity (another first) but 25 euro per week per apartment adds up to a tasty earner for the resort of approximately £500,000 per year – some electric bill…!!! Charge for safe was 12 euro per week, again on the high side.

Got “attacked” by RCI reptile but fought off bravely. Very heavy handed. Supermarket on 1st floor is well stocked, but the one across the road (looks like a Cash and Carry) will save you 30 - 40% of your bill. We ate at breakfast at extra cost which was OK; there isn’t much outside the hotel within a short distance. Food at night was good but a bit pricy.

The resort is very large on the outskirts of Benalmadena, we worked out nearly 400 time share and nearly 300 hotel rooms, sitting high over the seascape. Many Irish guests (they were great) because it is at least part owned by an Irish Group. Moonlight Lounge showed all the current sport every evening. We couldnÂ’t figure out why itÂ’s called the Sunset Beach as the resort faces away from the sunsets and they are shielded by the hilltops behind the complex.

It was a good walk to the marina, we reckon a 20 minute jog but it took us nearly an hour to walk it. Weather was not good so we only did it once, sure itÂ’s more enjoyable with the sun on your back.

We would not return to this resort, it just lets you down too many times. We will return to the area but in better accommodation hopefully.

Taxi from Malaga Airport to the Sunset Beach was 25 euros. It's a big hotel right on the beach. Got a room on 9th floor (6th floor is actually lobby/reception) overlooking the main road but also lovely view of the mountains. Only two of us so the room was fine, but would be cramped for 4. Bus stops close to hotel for torremolinos (1 euro five cents) and Fuengirola (1 euro 20 cents. Bus every half hour. Cable car next to tivoli world was ok (12 euro 50 return) goes to the top of the mountain where there is a cafe plus bird of prey area where they put on a show at 1300 and 1700 (entry free with cable car ticket). Marina worth a visit, it's about 30 minute walk but you can catch the bus for just over a euro. Money changing places don't charge commission and the rate was better than the uk.Bar has a 2 for 1 from 1830-1930. Breakfast was ok but same menu every day so would suggest having breakfast elsewhere on a couple of days. Supermarket on the bottom floor handy for break/beer etc... also a couple of cheaper ones across the road.

Ate dinner at the hotel restaurant on one night. Good lovely and good value but we finished eating just as the evening entertainment came on (usually 9 or 10 oclock). Tuesday and Wednesday there is cabaret at the club on the 5th floor (street level from outside). The Tuesday show (Showstoppers) was 3 singers banging out bits of different musicals (17euros) and the Wednesday (Rat Pack) had 3 singers belting out Sinatra/Martin and Davies Junior songs. (23 Euros) Both shows were good. Didn't go on any excursion this trip but was tempted by Granada/alhambra palace which was 60 euros through the hotel but saw adverts on outside travel shops for a lot less.

Just got back 29th July 06 Must disagree with other reviews the room we were given was to say the least the PITS rooms No 532 - 564 beware.

The view from the balcony if you can call it that was directly facing and overlooking other apartments. It was also next to the lifts 3 in total what a noise also the enterance to hotel was directly above. The room was suposed to sleep 4 it consisted of two rooms one with TWIN beds that no way can be pushed together and the door was of lourver design. The other room was in fact the lounge with the settee turning into a bed ok if its children but not if adults. The bathroom was so small not much room for moving around in just so glad no one took our offer to come with us. Also if you are over 5ft 8in tall your feet will dangle out of the beds.

If you are a couple my advise is give this hotel a wide berth if you have children then hope you dont get those apartments.

Spent a week here with my husband, daughter and her friend. Apartments are RCI owned which is time-share, the reps ring your room to invite you to a 15 min talk ? don.t go! lasts much much longer, some people couldn.t get away.Lots of touts in the resort who also wouldn.t take no for answer. The resort itself is very quiet with nothing going on except 1 karaoke bar, not many nice places to eat.

Apartments are very very small - too small for 4! Nice and clean but oh so very noisy, kids running through the corridors, tables, chairs etc dragged across the floors. We were kept awake most nights till gone 2.30! Security very reluctant to intervene as most are time share rooms!

I would not go to either Benalmadena or these apts again, but would go to Torromolinos, much more going on.

Would not recommend going to this hotel using the Ambassador Gold programme given to you by friends or relatives as a cheap holiday. The hotel, the amenities are great ,unfortunately this hotel is used by a group calling themselves Diversified Holidays this is timeshare . What was described as a one and half hour presentation turned into aseven hour marathon.its a shame that this hotel allows these people to use it as it spoils all the good points this hotel has to offer.

Benalmadena itself is beginning to look tired,a lot of hotels look in need of renovation.Overall we would not go back, the Greek isles and Turkey have a lot more to offer.
