Went on holiday with my partner last September. Los Delfines apartments were excellent. We had one on ground floor overlooking the pool. Unfortunately it was quiet on the complex at night so we had to go into town. The biggest drawback of this was that the town was a good 25 minute walk from the apartments. You could take a taxi but to taxi twice nightly and maybe during the day if you wanted to go could have worked out very expensive.

We really enjoyed the resort and would definitely go back.

Stayed at Los Delfines for 2 weeks over the August Bank Holiday in 2004. We booked half board (food OK, nothing special)and had a deluxe room... not sure if you get these type of rooms as an upgrade, we didnt pay a supplement for it. Anyway room was lovely, huge with a massive built in wardrobe, big bathroom, big comfy bed and a terrace outside. The hotel bar is fairly close but shuts early so we werent bothered by noise. Hotel was very busy, very good for families but not for couples if you're wanting to relax by the pool.

We tended to go to the town beach which didn't get over crowded and has plenty of places to eat nearby. Also a trip to the dunes is a must, we hired bikes which was a killer for 2 middle aged smokers in 100 degree heat! Well worth going to, sea clear and sand like the caribbean. Took the ferry over to Lanzarote, can't remember name of resort over there but its quite nice, similar to Corralejo.

Correlejo itself tends to cater for Brits, lots of Sky TV and Sunday dinners, which is OK if thats what you travel abroad for. One great thing is the amount of rock bars, it was nice to listen to some decent music. Must mention Tatooz'n'Booze (under the Atlantic Centre) which plays great heavy rock, plus you get free Jagermeisters! Never saw the tourist tram running, and the water park was closed when we walked up.
Weather was fantastic, really hot and sunny, a nice resort if you want a home away from home.

We booked an ";allocation on arrival"; holiday of guaranteed 3A accommodation or better and ended up at Los Delfines. Had trouble getting in apartment as bottom of door needed planing and was noisy to open.

First impression was that apartment felt a touch grubby and needed a good clean. Popped to local shop and bought some disenfectant, bleach and washing up liquid. Jean gave the cutlery a good clean and threw the tin opener out as it was rusty and a health hazard. The next occupants will thank us!!

Only one tea towel and dish cloth were provided. These were smelly and we washed them out. Towels smelt ";fusty"; all week as so many other reviewers have noted. We had just one plug for the bath, sink, bidet and kitchen. Kitchen sink was a different size so you couldn't even plug-share! Despite requesting several times over first 2-3 days, no plugs ever appeared.

Of course, one is entitled to throw a wobbly and request a move but we only required a place to sleep and shower. Didn't use the pool, bar or restaurant so can't moan about them. Reps young, insincere and inexperienced. Ours admitted during her welcome speech to only being in post for 11 weeks having come from a security background.

Corralejo itself? Taxi 2.50 to 3 Euros into town. Main drag not our cup of tea. Can recommend Rock Island, and Imagine for good quality live acoustic music. You must also visit Sadies, with a fantastic drag-show. High quality adult entertainment. Recommend La Terraza steak house for a range of steaks, fish, pizza, pasta and local dishes. Good value. You have to queue after 8pm (turn off main drag by Poco Loco). Walked to dunes most days (about 20-25 minutes before you reach the water). Amazing beach but do be respectful of tides, currents and crashing surf.

Buses are good value and appear on time.

Would return to Fuerte but not Los Delfines

The Los Delfines Apartments, don't go there !!! Apartments old and tatty all the furniture was good for was a wood burning fire. Reception staff friendly and helpful. In our apartment we were supplied with a sweeping brush but no dustpan. When I asked for one I was told to clean up mess and take dustpan back as it was the maids. They must only have one dustpan as they must be really expensive in resort. We were half board but unfortunatly food in hotel awful had to eat out most of time. Ants and cats all over hotel. Building site behind hotel. We asked to be moved but were told we would have to pay over £400.00 to move.

Corralejo nice place, beaches ok, sand dunes great when it is not too windy other wise you get sand blasted.

We have been to Jandia on the south of the island previously and would go back there, much better than Corralejo.

I would not advise anyone to stay at the Los Delfines it needs total refurbishment.

When we were reading the reviews on Los Delfines we were very woried at all the bad reviews but when we got off the coach and walked into the reception area we found that it was very clean the receptionist was very nice and gave us and another family a meal.

The pool looks very nice but seamed to have way to much chemicals in it. The apartments are very basic but clean and the maid always changes your towels the funiture was not good and has seen better days. The bar is very cheap and the bar man sam is so funny and diserves alot of praise as he does almost everything himself.

There is not alot of chioce food wise bt it was cooked well enough. It is a 10/15 minute walk to town and has some good bars and restaurants. The nearest beach is very small but you can order a taxi out into the sand dunes and there is an extremely nice beach and it is cheap to get there costing no more than 3 euros.

Overall veryfriendly staff the apartments could be improved.

Hotel rooms large and clean. Food basic.
Pool uncrowded but salty. Bar good atmosphere run by real character Sam. Only problems were a drain smell at times and unfriendly reception on arrival.

Resort had nice beaches and shops. Dune beach excellent.

Avoid rep tours but book your own.

Weather in low 20s all the week.

We wanted a warm and relaxed break on a sunny island and were pleased.

My friend and myself have just arrived home from an absolutely wonderful time in correlejo.

I was wondering what we had let ouselves in for after reading the reviews for these apartments on this site. However we found we had no need to worry as we found them to be exceptionally clean and as we only used it for a base quite adequate for our needs. The apartment was mopped every other day, the sheets were changed mid week(more than the average person does at home) and if you put the towels in the bath each day the maid would give you fresh. I agree that the furniture was showing wear and tear but it served its purpose and was not unsafe. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

However I must agree that the food in the restaurant was not up to much but was quite cheap and as we went self catering we only used it once. These appartments were very well situated as it is only a 10-15 minute walk to the Main Street of Correllejo. You could either walk via the road or go through a small alleyway and walk via the beach.
There are a wide variety of restaraunts along the main street and also down the side street. If you like fish then you must go to the Harbour area at the bottom of the main street were you can enjoy your meal while enjoying the sound of the sea.

There are also a wide selection of bars with a wide variety of themes, but be careful as there shots are triple what ours are. If you enjoy 70's and 80's music try the venue which is owned by Julian and Sue(ask Julian how he enjoyed his sledging) and has a really friendly and welcoming barmaid by the name of Marlene.

All in all we had a wonderful holiday and will definately go back to the Los Delfines and Correllejo

Hotel is well below average, have re-read reports on this hotel, and can only agree with those points raised. Sub standard tired rooms, Smelly towels, Brakfast in fairness improved after mass complaint by ALL guests. Evening meals limited and uninspiring. In fairness the barman Sam worked exceptionally hard doubling as waiter , barman, meal time ";host"; . he was let down by a lac lustre hotel that is poorly managed. Nothing right unless you complained. Happy Hour at 5:30 each day, only problem bar shut from 3:30 til 7:00 ( who-ever heard of that on holiday !!
When confronted happy hour moved to 2:30 - 3:30, but only for those who complained, and only happened when we asked !!.
AIRTOURS should be ashamed to put there name to this type of service and hotel. Save your hard earned Euros and book elsewhere. 3 couples moved out during our stay and moved to Arena hotel AIRTOURS charged each couple 130 euros for privilege. I hope they are ashamed at least Dick Turpin wore a mask !

What can I say, this is our 3rd visit here and to be honest, this will be our last. We did place an entry on this site in 2002 for the same apartments, and we were very pleased, however, Delfines has changed hands since and it shows big style.

From our first visit here in 2001 (before the euro arrived) this was a 1st class resort. I now find that the price of things have got out of control. The bar in the complex was just one example, all I can say is Cental London bar prices are cheaper, the bar was serving Local sprits at that, a glass of coke was working out at almost £2, for me and my wife and 2 children the average round was about £10. It got to the stage when I spoke with the barman about the price, some nights the price was different...Whatever.

The accommodation is now starting to look shabby, and is in need of a make over, the rooms did not seem to get visited as regular as before and I had to keep asking for the towels to be changed, they just did not seem clean in the first place, a very musty smell came from them after you had dried yourself after a shower.

I know we all have our own standards but I see a big change. The entertainment was poor and still had the same people doing the shows.

Town is much the same, you can still get a good meal out, but its all the same no matter what food establisment you use.
I think the island has developed to fast, lots of building work going on. Even the shops that sell the FAKE electical goods are only offering a few pound off the price you would pay in Dixons or currys. Be very carefull when dealing with these shop owners. 60% of the kit is fake...Dont say I did not warn you.

Anyway, what a moan I am, me and my family made the best of the holiday and still enjoyed ourselves. As most of us do, we make sure the kids have the best time and we did that.

PS: the 2005 price has gone up £300 pound for a family of 4... I wonder why..

Peter

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 weeks and we had such a good time. We joined in with the bar crawl the second night we were there (we're still calling each other Boris and Doris) and had the best time, meeting loads of nice people. To recover the day after we walked a good 20 mins to the flag beach, not far from the sand dunes, which are out of this world. I'd recommend getting a taxi there though as it is a fair walk and taxi's a cheap. There are beaches closer by, only on this one we had lots of space and were able to watch the wind surfers and other water sports fans.

The strip in the town centre is awesome. I agree with some other reviews when they say it is quite english but all the same, there is lots going on and the poeple are lovely. If you like sea food and fish, walk right to the end of the strip to the harbour as there are some lovely places to eat. Also try out 'Gibons'. Its a restaurant just off the strip which is quite hard to find but the food is great.

The apartments at los delfines are nice and kept very clean. They are basic but we found them fine for us.
Make sure you go long and introduce yourself to Sam, there greatest bar man ever! A couple of his 'single' vodka's will have you gone for the night! Just don't try and challenge him to a game of pool as he is very good.

We met some fantastic people on our holiday who we have kept in touch with since. We had the best time ever and can't wait to go back! A highly recommended complex in the nicest island i've stayed on.

We have just returned from a fantastic two week holiday at the los delfines. Well where do we start we booked a allocation on arrival so we were not expecting much but when we arrived at the los delfines we were very surprised.

The complex was kept very clean and tidy the reception staff are first class wactch out for the little four legged vistitors to your room they go by the names of Patric and george (complex cats). Sam bar the bar man is very funny and he will have you crawling out of the bar by the end of the night as his measures are massive. We dont usally book trips through the reps but decided to go on their caberet night it was FANTASTIC free flowing drink all night WOOHOO.

The rep nicki was very friendly and always had a smile on her face.Darren the little cheeky chappy was fantastic with kids and was always in and out of the pool with them. Claire was the quietist out of all three of them but was always very friendly.

WE had a fantastic holiday and will definatly be back next year.

We got a late deal, self catering and considering the price we paid, we felt Los Delfines was great. However, we're not the kind of holiday makers that hang around our complex all day so if you are and if you paid full price for this you might be a bit disappointed as others have reported on this site. Personally, I've stayed in a lot worse places and i found all the amenities I needed in our little apartment including a kettle, a toaster and clean towels. Others may find rooms a bit basic and worn. The advertised air conditioning was a bit crap and what's the point using ";satellite tv in every room"; as a selling point when all you show is CNN and The Simpsons dubbed into Spanish with poor reception? Why not just get rid of the TV?

Loved the pool at the complex, but only used it in the early evenings for a swim before dinner after everyone else had cleared off. Had the whole pool to ourselves. Don't know how busy it gets during the day. Only used the little shop on the complex once or twice but it was quite a bit more expensive than other shops in town. Complex bar (";Whispers";) looked awful but never went to find out for sure. Very much an English bar with chicken nuggets but if that's your thing then good for you. Staff at reception were lovely - very helpful.

The resort of Corralejo (about a 15 min walk to the main street) was busy. There were a LOT of English and Irish pubs, Chinese and English restaurants along the main street, all with annoying touts outside desperate for you to part with your Euros. This main street had very little in the way of traditional Spanish or Canary Island food or atmosphere - so I'd recommend getting off the touristy, loud bits and hunting out places where the locals eat for better food and better prices - we found a couple of lovely places. Having said that, Poco Loco and the Slow Boat (Chinese)on the Main strip both had great food. I'm a vegetarian, which was sometimes a bit of a challenge, but not impossible.

There's a little beach in town which is nice for families but gets very crowded, and a little way (5 mins by taxi, 40 min walk or hire a bike from the hotel) round the coast are the Corralejo sand dunes with the perfectly sandy, beautiful beach that stretches for miles. Currents are strong here and we often found the lifeguards had put up red flags so we couldn't go in the water - which was annoying. Wind is really strong on the whole island, but on the dunes it gets a bit painful as it can whip the sand against you really hard, so sitting on the beach without some kind of wind break is a bad idea. We didn't like the bit of the beach near the 2 huge Rui hotels (SUCH ugly buildings! Why?!) which was really crowded and full of sun loungers. We settled a bit further up towards Corralejo which was pretty empty (though a few nudists!) and helpfully had ";lobster pots"; - large circles of stones on the sands that you could shelter and sun bathe in.

Best beach we went to was at El Cotillo - round the coast to the East. You can get the number 8 bus for around 2.25 Euros each from Corralejo and it's definitely worth it if you're a beach and surf fan. El Cotillo itself is quite a pretty (in places) fishing village - though obviously quite poor - but just outside the village is a fabulous stretch of beach with great waves and cliffs (good for shade and wind protection). Lots of Spanish there. Must mention an excellent cafe called Aguayre in the village too - great snacks, gorgeous views and proper coffee! El Cotillo is obviously being developed as a future resort as there was all sorts of building work going on there (as in Corralejo), so you'd be wise to try to get there before it gets totally spoilt.

In all had a great holiday. The island was interesting. Not much going on - not a lot to look at or to go and visit and much of the inland areas are barren. You really have to make your own entertainment. We booked one trip with Airtours reps - the 3 island boat tour on the Blue Delfin. Great day out, lovely boat staff, but a word of warning - if you book the trip independently at a Blue Delfin office then it works out cheaper than going through Airtours. We didn't book any other Airtours trips as they seemed pretty uninspiring and even the reps didn't sound very enthusiastic about them.

I'd recommend Fuerteventura for those that want a relaxing beach holiday and I really liked our appartment at Los Delfines. I wish I was still there!

having read previous reviews we were very worried about our booking. As it turns out, room was a very good size, towels a bt worn out but clean .

We had paid extra for half board - don't!! Breakfast was adequate, same every day but the rolls were fresh and hot. Breakfast was the same as any where else in these type of hotels but was poorly cooked. Evening meal - not a lot you can say about it apart from that it was very very poorbut there are lots of good restaurents in town and it is worth the 20 minute walk into town. Taxis are cheap if you don't want to walk about 2 - 3 euros.

Recommended places to eat are Showboat 2 Chinese restaurant on high street ( ignore the buffet restaurents and try this one) and very highly recommended is Restaurante Los Pepes in Calle La Ballena near the harbour. Small, intimate, friendly place run by English Lady and her German husband. Food was superb and excellent price. Do try it!! Waikiki bar on the beach does excellent ice cream sundaes but the burgers etc are not so good.

its about 30 mins walk into town dont listen to your rep though she will tell you to get to the shops go out of the hotel turn left and then turn left again dont if you go out of your hotel turn left then turn right and then right again you will find a netto supermarket 2 mins away from los delfines.shops are all the same and there are to many chinese resuraunts.

beware of the pool at the los delfines as it is a salt water pool and if you get gobfull you will be sick the sea itsself is not as salty as the pool.weather was great but would not go back to that resort as you are limited on what to do and there is nothing at all for the kids to do also nothing opens there till 10am and almost everthing shuts by 1pm and doesn't open again till 6pm

Hotel excellent with very spacious rooms, and even though you were not a self catering customer, the room has facilities for it. Food was OK, nothing special, but plenty of restaurants and cafes in the area to make up for it. Wheather OK, a bit windy, but the strong sun made up for it, the wind made the nights fresh enough for a good sleep.

Do not miss the Dunes Beaches, gorgeous!!, and not a piece of rock to be found, there are the local rocky beaches in the area, but a short trip to the dunes is recommended. Do not bother with a trip to the capital (Puerto del Rosario) as it is just a town for daily living, not for tourists. A trip to the oasis park with the tourist company is a must as it includes a very exciting and funny reptile show as well as a parrot one, very good for kids, and the buffet lunch included in the price is very very good.
