"Basic, clean apartments"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Good

Open quote

This are good, clean apartments. The pools are lovely and spacious and are kept very clean. The bar in the complex is nice but quite expensive, we teneded to eat out every night then have a drink sat outside our apartment when the kids had gone to bed.

Overall I would say that these apartments are great for a base, basic but clean.

The hotel was very spread out - it would be unsuitable to expect hotel patrons with mobility issues to reach the far ends of the hotel comfortably as some of the paths were narrow and in need of repair!

As previous reports suggests the rooms are in need of a refurbished but don't let this put you off. We stayed with our two sons aged 9 and 5 for two weeks and really enjoyed it. There is all sorts going on if you want to join in, the entertainment staff are excellent but are not in your face. My son did some scuba diving, we had free access to the water park across the road which we used a number of times which was good. The hotel was in a good location and the weather was fantastic.

would def go back there. The apartment location could not have been better, it was about a two minute walk to the main high street, about a five minute walk to the beach and about a 10 minute walk to the harbour area, and possible about 10-15 minutes to walk to the water/fun park.

I had read mixed reviews before we left but was not worried, we are not fussy people so thought it would be fine. on arrival its very clean in reception (though staff are the most sullen i have ever met). The pool area is gorgeous, plenty sunbeds, showers at the side of pool and 3 good sized pools of varying depths. pool bar staff also rude, called me an unprintable name for having the audacity to say "Can I see a menu please". When my husband went to reception to ask to speak to a manager, the blonde receptionist told him to fill in the form in our room and it would get to the manager! We were half board and breakfasts were fine if a little lukewarm but the dinners were on occasion dreadful. It appears they cook everything at one time and it just sits there at the buffet and dries out and gets cold. On the last night we had meatballs which were cold and raw once bitten into, another night I had fish so dry I could not chew it. Rooms were a bit more basic than I would have liked, however were very clean, but ours were badly needing new furniture, we were party of 6 and 2 of the teenagers had to sleep in the sitting room, one on a pull out a few inches off the floor and the other on the couch where the cushions would not sit in the frame and as a result the kids kept landing on the floor. There was no airconditioning which was a nightmare but they did provide us with a fan for one room only on day 5. we didnt cook but there was a 2 ring cooker, toaster, fridge and microwave there if you so wanted. We were left without bath towels for 5 days , using only hand towels and we had the same dishtowel for the 2 weeks. Daytime entertainment was great for all ages, plenty vairety for all the family. In the evening it was nightly bingo, and play your cards right. Kids hour started at 8pm which is quite late we felt, leaving the after bingo entertainment often not starting till nearly 10.30pm. Entertainment would have benefitted from outside acts coming in and not the Thomas Cook team performing variations on the same theme night after night. They had a marketplace one evening and a lovely man singing with a guitar in spanish but we had dizzy and shades belting over the top of it and the man eventually gave up. This place has great potential,it is in a great location, 5 min walk from waterpark, less than 2 mins walk from main shopping street. The rooms and the food and a minority of staff that let this hotel down( staff in the restaurant and boulevard bar were lovely).it is not somewhere i would recommend to anyone.

"A fabulous holiday....."

Overall Hotel Rating:

The hotel/apartments and its facilities are superb. We spent a week here in january 2011 and it was great. The pool area is excellent for all with a small pool just right for babies and toddlers. The food was good, with plenty of choice and something to suit everyone. The hotel staff were polite and the entertainment team from thomas cook are jsut fabulous. Cartoon heroes is certainly our holiday record of the year!! Thanks, all.

"Very basic accommodation , poor food"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Poor

Open quote

Accommodation was very basic. Kitchen consisted of Fridge, 2 ring hob, toaster and kettle. The bedroom was damp and had a musty smell to it. Bedding and towels looked old and worn. We stayed on a half board basis and the food was very poor. The food was under cooked to the point that chicken still had blood on it. They had a weekly BBQ, the lady doing the BBQ was using the same utensils for the raw meat and the cooked meat.

The pool area is nice and spacious with plenty of sunbeds however they are lined up in rows so lack of personal space can be a problem.

As for location the hotel is situated next to the waterpark and is about 10 mins walk to the resort centre.

"Great stay, good for kids"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Open quote

Myself, partner and four year old son stayed in this hotel for a week in june. Although the flight was quite late landing, we were quickly transferred by coach to the apartments. Upon arrival we were shown straight to our apartment which was clean and tidy if a little basic. Through the course of the holiday we found the Thomas cook reps to be very friendly and helpful especially the kids club reps who were great with our son. The pools were clean with plenty of sunbeds but a little short on sun shades, plenty of activities through the week and good evening entertainment. Can't really comment on the food as we stayed self catering and ate out most nights. All in all a very good holiday and a complex we would definately use again!!

Exceptionally clean place, beautiful area and very safe for everyone especially young children. Hotel staff and entertainment staff were brilliant , my kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they were 1 and 3 at the time. food and drinks were reasonably priced and very tasty too. and it was in the most perfect location, near night life but far away enough not to hear everything. There was also lots of things to do at the resort for everyone of every age. FANTASTIC!

"Fab holiday"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Good

We arrived home on the 28th July 2010. Having read some of the reports we didn't know if we were looking forward to our holiday! We were wrong. The pools were clean and although they were quite cool, this was a bonus as it was so hot!The entertainment was fantastic, the childrens club likewise. Our children aged 6 & 9 loved going to the club and always had a brilliant time. Yes, the rooms were basic, but thats what we expected. They were cleaned five days in each week to a good standard, and we didnt see one cockroach or any bugs in the appartment. We had problems with our neighbours coming in at the early hours of the morning waking us all up, so we asked to move, this was not a problem at all, and we were given a key to another appartment straight away. For what we payed we all had a fantastic holiday and would go back again.

Well what can i say i read many reviews about this hotel before i went some many negative but i decided to take the place on mmy own merits. I travelled with myself, fiance and 3 kids 15,5 and 2 this hotel needs bulldozing it is filthy and damn right DANGEROUS, upon arrival at our room B340 we found lights hanging off the walls, curtains hanging off the poles, loose lighht switches, fridge so badly corroded the door wouldnt close, toilet not flushing properly, ants allover my 5 yr old bed, windows not closing also the cot i hired from the thomas cook travel agent was absolutely fowl ive seen better things in a charity shop. I was told i couldnt be moved as it would cost me thousands but they said theyd move my roon however this never happened they replaced the fridge and cot and fixed the curtains. everything was still outstanding when we left i had to be refunded the money i paid for half board the food they were serving was basically warmed up slop and in the whole 2 weeks we were there the maid came 4 times. i could go on and on with faults on this place but id be here allday it was shocking i hope you read this before booking im actually in the process of lodging a complaint with thomas cook and have told them i will be seeking legal action against them and taking all the photographs and evidence i have to the media thats how bad this place was. Please be warned im not a picky person just having a go this place really was the pits the stress me and my family suffered was horrendous to say the least .

"You get what you pay for."

We travelled with our son of 23. As he has special needs we opted for the apartment so he could have a separate room. Although the appartments were old, they had been repainted recently (even the curtains!) and some repairs had been done, a new microwave installed. Kept clean, regular bedding and towel change. Weired idea of hiring sun brollies, t.v's, fans etc. Food quite good and well cooked. Pool clean but a bit deep. The all inclusive patrons were inclined to get a bit loud as alcohol was available free until 11 p.m. For the price we paid we can't moan too much.

"Burgled in this grotty, shabby hotel"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Poor

Open quote

Within days of arrival in Jan 2010 we had been broken into; cameras, ipods, phones and cash stolen, and kids were hurt due to poor maintenance in the room. We also had a couple of run-ins with the tall, dark haired receptionist who was dreadfully rude and unsympathetic when we were burgled. She seemed to be fending off upset residents on a daily basis and giving them the same treatment as us. Our room was poorly cleaned and we only had towels changed once during a whole week. Those towels and the bedding were old, worn and stained and the small flat-sheets slid off the mattresses as we slept - urgh!

The rooms were incredibly hot even in January and had no airconditioning or mesh on the windows to keep the mossies and cockroaches out. The doors and windows were not very secure, though ours were locked when we were broken into and the security guy seemed to think the burglar must have had a key as we were on the second floor with no sign of forced entry.

He admitted they had a huge problem with thefts from organised gangs who had come into the town. The thieves had obviously been watching our room and seen us leave, before making their very lucrative hit. I only wished Thomas Cook had warned us of these problems as the hotel clearly were aware. It was the worst holiday of my life!

we stayed here at easter 2010 for a week, although location was good the apartments lets this down, are of poor standard, sofa bed broken , mould on bathroom ceiling and if you have a ground floor one cockroaches every night, also maid service is very poor after 3 nights using same towels went to reception to ask for clean ones which was brought to me in 10 minutes, then had same ones for next 3nights,wont be returning to these apartments, stayed in oasis papagayo 3 years ago was much nicer, but further away, would return to correlejo though, and recommend penny lane and el toro steak house.
