The apartments were amazing! The apartments had a TV, sofabed, bathroom and shower, kettle, toaster, fridge with bottle of water and twin room. Comfy beds and the maids were extremely friendly! The pool was good, and the play area was infront of my room. We stayed in 103, the garden section. The Guarapo Restaurant underneath the complex was great! The beach was great, everything was great! We have booked to go back there again in September 2012.

Myself and my boyfriend, both late 20's stayed at the Jardin Del Sol for a week in April. First appearances weren't great. The hotel is situated behind a Crazy Golf course and we were a bit put off to start with. Check in was super quick, and we walked through reception and up the stairs and were greeted with lovely garden and the sound of trickling water. We found our bungalow, which had a terrace rather than a balcony, a little living room with a TV, a kitchen with a bottle of water in the fridge, stairs upto a clean bathroom and bedroom. We dumped our bags and went for a look around. The pool was gorgeous and there was a pond, with little waterfalls, with fish and turtles. the garden was well look after and everywhere were flowers and palm trees. The next morning we went to the pool which had, on a busy day, 15 people around it. Apart from the pool being a bit cold, it was lovely and clean, peaceful and no rush to get a sunbed. There was a bar, pool table and a place to be massaged. The hotel also had squash courts and a tennis court, although no net. I would highly recommend this hotel. I wouldnt have changed a thing!

This place is way better than other budget options and a significant number of more expensive places. Its handy for both beach and central PdI, if you like clubbing or are gay the Yumbo and Kasbah are nearby. Bit of a walk to beach but still not too far. Nice and pleasant, very nice people staying here also.

just come back from a 2 week stay in the jardin del sol and i am absolutely gutted to be home. everything about the place is great, the position, the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, staff are really friendly and the place is absolutely spotless. after reading reviews on here me and my partner were a bit put off with going but i am so glad we did. i will definately be going back again. but beware the only downside is is that it is absolutely boiling. we were wearing factor 50 and still burnt. the pool area is really clean and there is plenty of room for sun beds so there is no need to wake up at the crack of dawn to try and get one, we had the same spot for 2 weeks running. the food at the pool bar is really nice one of the nicest burgers i have had in a long time. there are lots of lovely restaurants just outside the jardin del sol we enjoyed the brittannia, mackers and about a 10 minute walk away there is a lovely irish centre where the food is absolutely delicious. all in all we had a brilliant holiday and i would recommend this to anyone who has children.

Jardin del Sol certainly doesnt look much from outside, but once inside its quite well laid out with very well kept gardens and a good pool area, food in the pool area good but not particularly cheap.Maid service is very good as regards to cleanliness but they are rather noisy when they start early in the morning shouting across to each other ! We stayed in apartment No 1 which was well located but did not have the pool view we had requested. The Apartment itself was clean and bright and the upstairs bedroom and bathroom quite a novelty and gave some privacy to mum and dad.Playa del Ingles is looking a little tired now nearly every Resteraunt has a very similar menu and most are not cheap,Guarpo (right on the doorstep is one of the better ones) if you fancy a Chinese Tony Chui is very good (exit apartments turn left at main road past supermarket and turn left again. In the same strip you will find Mackers Bar (cheapest beer in town and English TV if you like that sort of thing)also Big Bens proper English home from home !!! dont bother with the 'Family Drag Show' its far from a family show being X-rated ,there is an Indian which isnt very good and another Chinese - didnt try.If get to the end of this stip you will see steps leading to a bridge over the Motorway cross this and about 20yds on your right is a narrow road go down this turn left at the end and then right you are now in San Augustin, walk along this road and you pass several authentic Tapas type bars and small shops keep going and you come to a Shopping Centre with some good shops and Hyper Dino upstairs (cheaper than local supermarkets) also try a coffee at the place outside of Dinos (fantastic). Not much entertainment in or around the apartments but Taxis are cheap,Yumbo centre changes from a shopping centre by day to a lively mix of eateries shops and clubs (mostly Gay) by night. We found the best entertainment down by the beach in the Cafe Roma, different show each night at 10pm followed by Elvis each night.Beware of the beach if you have a young family, once you get to the Dunes section you you enter the Nudist section this now runs right the way throught to Maspolomas and when we were there there were thousands of naked people (mostly fat and ugly) all the way along the beach!! If you want a really nice beach go to Amfi del Mar,its an upmarket Time share resort with a Carribean white sand beach but it is free.Get the bus to Puerto Mogan -very pretty-then get the water taxi back to Puerto Rico and bus back from there. For Shopping go to Vencindario, Atlantico Centre and main high street.Good value for money try the Crocodile Park.

This accommodation was excellent - everything was spot on ! cheap / friendly / clean / - book here and you will not be dissapointed - The main entrance to this place is quite small and at first, could put you off. But as you book in and walk through the complex, it opens up and its just amazing - we arrived at night time - the pool was all lit up, with the bar in the middle of the pool.

I havent see one bad comment about this place so far.

The Resort was pritty good- lots to do ion the day - at night time its busy, it all gets manic after 12am, partys all nights

Me my boyfirend and his nephew stayed in these apartments in july 06 and we was very impressed.

We arrived at 02.00am in the morning and we were a little worried because the hotel in hidden behind some resturants and a mens only club but once we checked in and walked into the lovely gardens that didnt seem to matter any more.

The rooms are nice and tidy and the maids made sure to keep it that way all week for us, you might find in these apartments some small ant looking things but just go to the front reception and they will give you some ant killer spray and they dissaper soon after.

The apartments themselfs are a really nice size and then bedrooms are realy nice too but the bathroom is a little on the small size and being away with my boyfriend and a 15 year old was murder to get ready in the evening but we did manange some how.

The pool area was fantastic you had a childrens area and then if you swim under the bridge it goes into a adults pool but be warned it is really deep and at 5";6 i still couldn't touch the floor.
There are plently of sunbeds to go round but they chain them up till 09.00am in the morning so if you are one of these people who gets up at the crack of dawn to put your towel down then you wont be able too, also there are signs all around the pool saying NOT to put you towel down and leave it there while you go out for the day, but all week people were doing this and it was a little frustrating as i am not an early riser and when i did manage to get to the pool there was no sunbeds.

When you get there make sure you go to the thomson welcome meeting as there are some really good trips to go on, i would recommend the VIP 5* cruise and the dolphin trip really good days out.

Just around the corner from the hotel is a row of bars and resturants and there is this bar called Big Ben's this is the best place to go all day long, they serve the best english breakfast on the whole island and then in evening they have quizzes, bingo, Play your cards right, and also live acts, it really is a great place to go.

The beach is not that far you could walk to the kasbah which will take about 5-10 minutes and then you can get the lift down to the beach.

I would really recommend these apartments had a really great time, so much so i am booking the next one already.

Have just got back from a week in Playa, not the 1st time i've been, but the 1st time staying at these apartments.

The complex is good very clean and well maintained, the pool is a good size with a childs end and a deeper end for adults, although you could do with a little more room for the sun loungers. There's a pool bar which also serves food. The rooms are very clean and have all you could need, kettle toaster, TV, fridge, didnt stop in one of the superior rooms but did have a look in one, the only difference being you get a microwave and parasol for your patio really not worth the extra money. You can hire fans and air-con unit from reception cheaper than through tour operator if you wish. Not sure i was that keen on having an upstairs, if your not good with stairs then this isnt the place for you. It is easier when things are all on one level as if you left something downstairs and wanted it upstairs or vice versa it could feel like you were up and down like a yoyo. Perhaps thats me being lazy! You could hear the cabaret acts from the RIU Flamingo over the road but unless your the early to bed type this shouldnt really bother you.

The staff are helpful and friendly, there is a supermarket on site and internet access. All room are cleaned with bedding and towels changed every other day, if you dont want to be disturbed then leave the sign out and they will leave clean towels on your patio table, the patio area itself is quite large with table and 4 chairs and private from your neighbours. You are no more than 10 minutes walk from the Yumbo center and 15-20 minutes from the beach.

We'd never been to Gran Canaria but thought we'd give it a try. We were very pleasantly surprised. The accomodation was very good considering the price. The rooms were cleaned every day. The pool area was absolutely great although we found out on the second day that you have to reserve a sunbed very early in the morning. The complex itself was great as were the staff, always friendly. The restaurants surrounding the hotel served great food and we found things were a lot cheaper than most parts of Spain we've been too. We're thinking about booking the same holiday for next year.

Overall EXCELLENT.

LOCATION
Situated 20 minutes from the airport (via car/bus), 10 minutes to the beach conveniently placed away from the noisy Yumbo and Kasbah centres but within walking distance.

ACCOMODATION
Having been dropped off opposite Guarapo restaurant we both looked at each other wondering where the accommodation actually was. This wasn't at all good.

Putting the Spanish GCSE into good use we finally found the entrance to the Jardin Del Sol apartments - We wondered what we had booked from first sight as they don't look much from the outside but once you get through Reception you walk out into a lovely courtyard. Go up the stairs and you enter an 'oasis'. All of the apartments are surrounded by grassy areas, secluded by palm trees and shrubs.

We stayed in the 'standard' apartment. From what I can gather these are similar to the 'premium' apartments minus the 'air conditioning' and a few electrical devices. Our apartment had a TV with a couple of English speaking channels such as CNN BBC News 24, VAUILT music channel etc. Which was operated by dropping a few euros into the box on the TV (1 euro = 1 hour of TV).

The apartments very nice with the bedroom (two single beds) with wardrobe and bathroom (minus the bath in ours just a shower) upstairs. Be careful if you have false teeth, the sinks have a wide opening - one slip of the mouth and down go your gnashes!

Maid service is daily, but if you feel that you don't need a clean just tell them (mañana) which means morning and they'll come the following day. Another thing to watch for is that the maids leave kitchen window wide open after every visit. At first we found this to be a bit disconcerning but the complex is very secure and with only one way in and out (that's via reception) you do feel secure. We also discovered that there was a breeze around in the morning and the afternoon, but this soon dropped during the night thus we had to leave all of our windows open to feel a breeze. This maybe due to the time of the year or the weather pattern.

If the heat bothers you, you can hire fans, from reception think there around 35 euros for the week. Another tip, hire a safety deposit box.

SHOPS AND SUPERMARKETS
Just situated under the Jardin Del Sol apartments is a nice restraint called Guarapo next to that is a photoshop, amusement arcade and then a supermarket. We used the supermarket for the time we spent there. We didn't eat in our apartment; we felt that Playa Del Ingles was cheap enough for us to get a good meal and some super drinks.

For electricals visit the Yumbo centre, and go to the Visitar (I think its called) this electrical shop seems pretty 'safe' as its recommended by the Thomson guide which was given to us by our rep (shoved under the patio table). If you are after some electrical goods write a list and find out what they cost in euros before you go that way you know if you are going to get a bargain!

RESTAUNTS
The pool bar was a nice addition to the complex. The staff were friendly, the food was tasty and the 'Tropical' was cold!

Close to the apartments are numerous 'café's', and 'restaurants'. These seemed pretty dire, more like back street joints that offered a quick snack rather than a gourmet meal.

If you want something more interesting or appealing visit the Restrante Itallino which is situated near the beach - gorgeous views, nice food! There are a few nice restaurants in the Yumbo and Kazbar (I'm sure that you'll find them!) but beware of the touts, they don't give up!

TRIPS AND VISITS
We didn't go on any of the trips organised by Thomson, we were only in Playa Del Ingles for a week and just wanted to unwind and not be bossed around.

The Yumbo centre is both annoying and entertaining. Annoying because of the touts, they don't leave you alone. You have to be pretty firm with them or just tell them that you'll have a visit next time. Also watch our for shop owners - they are quite persuasive and sometimes take a bit of shaking off.

Visiting the drag and gy bars is very funny indeed. These are hilarious, especially when they take a fancy to you!! They welcome all walks of life and a good time is had by all.

CLIENTEL
We found a wide range of people staying at the apartments. From young couples, through to families. During our stay we found that there were lots of Spanish staying, a few Germans' and a couple of Finish.

Beware though! If you want a sunbed with a parasol then you'll have to be outside, armed with towels at 08:50 as the sunbeds go like hotcakes! The beds are chained up till then but as soon as the pool attendant unlocks them. people are swarming over them! The annoying part is that they grab their beds and parasols and setup shop only to discover that they don't bloody use them! It's as if they are just securing their place by the pool 'in case' they fancy a dip or sunbathe!!

STAFF
We found all of the staff to be very friendly, always smiling, and offering to help. They were also quite knowledgeable and funny.

FACILITIES
I couldn't fault the pool! Clean, tidy, safe and secure. There were two deep ends one 6ft and the other 7ft. It's also worth knowing that the pool is a mixture of saltwater and chlorine. Both my girlfriend and I found the pool to very cleansing to our skin, especially with catching the sun! It also cleared up our pasty, spotty British skin!

Sunbeds were fine, apart from the military operation in getting one!

Didn't use the squash court nor the pool tables but they are an added bonus if you take kids. We didn't use the supermarket near the reception either. If you need to keep in touch via the internet the reception area has a bank of 3 computers.

TAXIS
When we went to any of the centres we hopped into a taxi. From the Jardin Del Sol apartments to the Yumbo centre cost us 2 euros. Likewise it was around 2 euros to the Kasbah. The rate increases to just over 2 euros after midnight. Would highly recommend using a taxi, cheap safe and reliable.

THOMSON WELCOME MEETING
We didn't attend. We did our own thing, only had a week and didn't want to be pressured into going on excursions.

WEATHER
We stayed in the Jardin Del Sol in late August and the weather was quite warm. With the breeze that was around it was far too easy to get sunburnt, both in and out of the pool. Remember the sunblock!

Above all we had a brilliant holiday. The area can cater for all ages and tastes. I would definately recommend these aparatmetns and would return here.

Arrived at the hotel unable to see where it was from the road side. Directed to the front of the hotel by the driver down the side of a mini golf course. Initially you think 'oh no' but once inside you will not be disappointed. Reception is small but this is a really good thing. Extremely polite sevice for 3 in the morning and quickly booked in with directions to our room. Be aware when you get into your room you must put the card attached to your key into the lit slot by the front door. It activates all the switches in the apartment except for the fridge which is left on.

Rooms are on 2 levels which is great for privacy with main bedroom upstairs. Basic but very clean. Maid service is excellant but can seem too much. Use the do not disturb sign otherwise very good. They even hose down the paths in the hotel.

Pool area is lovely and even at its busiest we have stayed at much more crowed places. Pool area is very clean as is the pool.

We had a little leak in our bathroom which I told my wife as it was 7 pm that it wouldn't hurt to wait until tomorrow to report it. Off she went and came back saying someone was on their way. 10 mInutes later the chap was there took pipe and fixed it all very quick and efficient even getting me to check repair to see if we were happy with his work! Never get that over here.

As I said reception is small. This is good because you don't get people wandering in off the street as you do with larger hotels. No looky looky men in here. The complex was very safe for our children with them being able to wander off inside and meet up with the other kids. If one of them had called from anywhere you would have been able to hear them it is that cosy a place. The grounds are beautifully kept and a credit to the ground staff.

Outside. Just as comercialised as other canary islands really, same tat sold every where! There is the yumbo and Kasbah centres which are the most comercial reaaly and good if you like that thing. A warning. Do ask how much your drinks will be when you order them as you might be conned on their arrival with 2 beers and 2 cokes in one bar costing 20 euros. 2 halfs that was, they said buy one get one free but smallest drinks they could give you. That was in one of the noisy bars in the Kasbah. (do they all need pole dancers to get custom?)
The cheapest drinks we found in the resort were at Mackers Bar. Around the corner from the hotel. One euro for a pint of the same lager served every where else. Oh yes and every where plays bingo.

Places to eat. Guarpo is nice. Yellow rose does excellant pizza. In the Gran Chapparal, turn right as you leave the hotel, is a place called The Brittania. Yes Its a British Bar but the smaller range of food it does is very good quality with very good quantities. The pepper sauce there, is made individually and is to die for.

Many of the menus are the same in thee restaurants.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and plan to go back again. A week to ten days would be ideal as with our kids being youngish they did get a bit bored at the end of 2 weeks but when we were leaving, they suddenly never wanted to go. Definately a place we want to go to again. Nice, relaxing, welcoming and must do againing!!

Recently returned from a week at Jardin Del Sol and really don't want to be back at work. First of all I have to say that because the price of accommodation is so cheap I was a bit concerned that standards wouldn't be very good or hygienic. I read the great reviews and went for it and was very pleased. These apartments could get away with charging a fair bit more than they do. Bargain! Clean and not dated at all (okay maybe could have done with new toilet)

Pool area always clean but beware that people do reserve sunbeds. We found there were enough sunbeds but not quite enough room to put them but then again it was peak season. Pool table, table tennis, squash court and then mini golf just outside.
Location was superb and taxi's are forever pulling up on main road outside apartments.
Our favourite pub was beckhams bar. I found, Chinawhite and Cream a let down mainly because very small inside. Pacha was good when it got going.
Guarapo's restaurant just by apartments was lovely and chilled out. Food was fantastic.

Overall, apartments were an absolute bargain considering the standard.
