A bit of a disappointment after other city breaks but the poor weather will have had an impact on the overall feeling of the weekend break. I would not go back as I did not feel there was enough to see to warrant a second visit.

Madrid is a great place to stroll around and take in the wonderful atmosphere. You can do as little or as much as you like and still have a great break. There is an abundance of fantastic tapas bars and cafes as well as plenty of sights and attractions e.g the Prado, the Reina Sofia art gallery, Retiro park, Plaza Mayor...

This was a wonderful experience in every way. The hotel public areas are beautiful, comfortable, and inviting. Great restaurant; and terrace bar is a terrific place to relax and enjoy drinks. The buffet breakfast has great variety of offerings. Room was spacious, very comfortable, and well-equipped. Hotel service was superb. Special thanks to hotel staff who are professional and caring. This is no doubt a very well-managed luxury hotel.

Always something to do. Me and my mum found it easy to find affordable nice places to eat each night. There was alot of variety.

The squares at night are awsome, beer is €1 / per can from street vendors, just relax and people watch

Madrid is amazing - the food, the people the sights! Wish I had had more time to explore. Will definitely go back.

Wonderful hotel; smoke-free; large rooms (both bedroom and bath); very clean. Courteous, helpful, and friendly staff at the front desk. Conveniently located within walking distance to everything - the Prado (and other museums); Puerta del Sol (the Times Square of Madrid), the Metro, etc. Also - walking distance to many tapas bars, Plaza Santa Ana, Plaza Mayor - yet tucked away on a quiet cobblestone side street in Madrid. Highly recommended

This was my first visit to Madrid, all I can say is I can't wait to go back soon. The city has great public transport but by walking you see the history, buildings and people of Madird. Plaza Mayor and the market, Plaza Sol, the Opera area, the Palace and Cathederal, the Prado and Thyssen were very very special. There is so much to see allocate as much time as you can to this fantastic city. Congratulation Madrid.

Madrid is a lovely place to go to if you are living in europe especially if you are looking for a cheap flight or holiday, the city is full of attractions and beaches that you can spend hours looking at. I would visit again.

The only problem is that you cannot book tour trips from the hotel. The hotel guided us to the tourist office situated on the Plaza de Callao wherefrom we were directed to a travel agent in the nearby shopping mall. It charged us Euro 6 for 2 persons for two trips. The trip organizer was Trapsatour and since the buses leave from their office and we booked the trip for next day morning, we decided to visit the starting point before hand. It was a slow walk for 5 minutes from the hotel if you go from the side of the Sushi Bar and 10 minutes walk if you go via Plaza de Callao and we could buy our tkts from there without paying any commission.

Do not forget to walk through all the pedestrian paths which connect other prominades. Start from Plaza de Callao and explore all others

Madrid is digustingly expensive, a small apartment there will set you back about 400,000 Euro to give you an idea. Half of lager anywhere from 2.50 off the beat and track, to 5.50 euro. Though probably more in nightclubs and exclusive establishments.

This review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the hotel bar. A large counter shows the number of Dry Martinis served - if you order one, you'll get a certificate with your name and number on it. The bar has an indoor part and an outdoor lounge, which is open to the general public from 6pm on.

There are so many luxury hotels in the world, it's not easy to stand out from the crowd. The Gran Melia Fenix however has achieved that distinguished level. That's why we think it is a class of its own

With a culture who can not fathom having the evening meal before 9:30, one of the highest concentrations of bars and restaurants per capita in the world, traffic jams at 4:00am and chocolate and churros at 6:00am after a night of dancing, Madrid has no equal.
