"Fantastic"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Esmeralda was a perfect choice for our stay in Majorca. Lovely weather, gorgeous views, friendly staff and good choice of quality, hot food. Entertainment was good, we even had a win on the bingo!! Lovely walk into Cala D'or. Swimming pool always had space. Plenty of excursions if you wanted them. Marina was a lovely walk away. Staff always made you feel very welcome. They were cheery at all times. Cleaners were always around keeping things sparkly clean. Overall great hotel that we would like to return to at some point soon. The cove that the hotel overlooks is just gorgeous, clear crystal water, beautiful. Snacks available easily from the beach bar.

Overall Hotel Rating:
. From arrival to leaving for home nothing was too much trouble. They spoke fantastic english on reception and went out of their way to help. The food was fantastic and the gala breakfast with champagne was a highlihgt folllowed by the gala dinner with show cooking. The waiters again and the chef team were fabulous. I would reccommend this hotel would be perfect for couples and families. There are two pools at this hotel and the beach is just over the road. You can also go to the pools at the azul complex next door.

"super"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The Cala Esmeralda is the Azul's sister hotel and is about 200 metres from one reception to the other, apparently a lot of people booked one and ended up at the other.
No matter, as it was great.
3 pools, large outdoor area for evening entertainment, spotless and spacious rooms. We went self catering so cant comment on food.
They have free Wi-Fi with a password that reception will give you.
The hotel also has access to a beach in a lovely cove, right next to the pools. Superb.
If I had to find fault it would be that the hotel is located at one end of the resort, or so it seemed to me. Although having said that it was only 10 minutes walk into the centre and a further 10 mins walk to the harbour area.

"Excellent Holiday 2010"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We booked a late deal with Thomson for the Esmeralda Park Complex, we were very pleased with the choice, the only grumble was the fact that as it was August it was very busy and you had to get up early for a sunbed spot. The complex is very clean and well located with a lovely beach and excellent facilities - 4 pools, entertainment, snack bar , mini golf, tennis. Our apartment was clean and ok, you couldnt cook more than your breakfast but that was fine. Maid service was every day and always came back if we were still asleep. The complex was well maintained and all the staff were very friendly & helpful. Various supermarkets near by and lots of bars, restaurants just a five minute walk away. Went to Palma - wonderful , visited Porto Colom - very tradtional fishing village and did the waterpark. Would love to come back in the future.

Overall Hotel Rating:
Excellent hotel if there is only 3 in your family. 6 of us went grandma, grandad, mum, dad 6 year old and 3 year old. 3 in each room. We had rooms next to each other over looking the sea. Fantastic view. Food excellent variety for adults not much for younger ones appart from chips every night. Pool great. Beach 1 minute away across a very quiet road. staff really friendly. Very quiet hotel but a short walk to the sister hotel which was very lively.

"Cala Azul Gardens are beautiful."
Overall Hotel Rating:
These apartments are simply beautiful. As it is S/C there is no restaurant or bar, but we found this to be great as you have the peace and quiet at the end of a long day. Amenities are really close and you can use the facilites of its sister hotels whenever you want. Definately would recommend staying here.

"great"
Overall Hotel Rating:
well what can i say, this is the best, if not the best hotel i have ever been to in majorca. It is by far the best in cala d'or. The Hotel is a 5 star in my opinion, the beautiful views, entertainment, friendly reps & staff, cleanliness everythink is just amazing. It suits every type of person, young and old alike. We had a big family holiday with me, my wife a teenager, toddler, my mum and dad and everyone wants to go back even my littlen loved it. The rooms were cleaned everyday, the food was great and the entertainment was very good, you dont have to really leave the hotel at night as it has everythink. i would advise you to get a sea view as it is worth it and would say get down to the beach early as it can get very crowded but that is what you can expect on every beach. The beach was gorgeous and you can also sunathe on the cliffs surrounding. The only probem i had was the fact that there were never any sun loungers available around the pool, as people would put there towels down sometimes before 6am and never came back til 10am or later. Apart from that this hotel is everythink you would ever want in a holiday I would recommend it to anyone, we have already booked again for the end of august. Hope this helps.

"Cala D'or"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Stayed at the Cala Azul Park, This was our 2nd visit here and was just as good 2nd time around. Facilities excellent. Hotel was very quiet considering it was the end of august, sometimes very few people in the restaurant. It was even quieter than when we last went in June last year. We e-mailed hotel to say we had visited before and they gave us a room exactly where we had requested and left us a bottle of wine to say thank-you for coming back!. Was not impressed with the Thomson rep, completely useless, we had a trip cancelled the night before we were due to go, rep made no attempt to contact us, left it to hotel reception. Much better service from Thomas Cook last year!
Was quite easy to get sunbeds but there were still the sad cases who were up early , these people were British though. Would return to this hotel again.

"Fantastic For Relaxation"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Didn't arrive until 5:30am, should have been about midnight. This was due to 2 hour flight delay at East Midlands then 1 hour wait for bags at Palma and finally 2.5 hours coach to resort due to a fatal accident on the road to Cala D'or. When we arrived the reception were very thoughtful and really efficient in getting us to our apartment. Balcony, air con and good standard, the only little issue is that we did not have a kettle or an oven to cook food with.Eating out is a little pricey out there but you can find some bargains. The complex is first class for a 3/4 star. Very clean, well laid out and in good nick. The resort is mainly German or Dutch families and we got on well with all of them. As with most places if you want a sunbed by the pool you do have to get up a little early and get down there to reserve. a word of warning though, do NOT leave your towels on the beds and go back to your room as a man comes around between 8:30am and 10:00am and will pick them all up and place them all on a table by the pool. Pools are excellent, beach is 20 metres away and the sea is clear and lovely and warm. The entertainment is very funny, not intentionally all the time though. They have about 6 people who mime and dance to various themes, Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Back to the Movies, on different nights. The YABBA YABBA fruit seller on the beach is brilliantly entertaining and the beach and sea are superb. Take the traine around the resort to find your bearings when you get there, it's well worth it. Also walk into the centre for your dining, it takes about 15/20 minutes from the complex. All in all an excellent relaxing holiday and would not hesitate to go back.

"Nice Rooms, Sweet Beaches"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We found that this hotel was fairly well positioned, just a short walk to 3 nearby coves. The pool was nice and not too busy and our room was very large and clean. We walked into the main town area at night (about 10minutes walk) and managed to find some good restaurants there. We decided not to spend the days sitting around the pool as there didn't seem to be much of an atmosphere there during out stay, so we chose to go to the beach and buy amazing fruit from the beach seller (we still laugh about his yodelling call for customers!!! TUTTI FRUTTI!!!)
We really enjoyed this holiday and although the weather was a bit changeable the resort and hotel were both great.

A very large complex that still feels personal. Great location and number of pools to pick from. Great mix of nationalities. Can take the half board option that works out really good value for money.

"A bit of a disappointment"
Overall Hotel Rating:
First of all the positive points. The location of this hotel is fab. We were at the Esmerelda section of the hotel which overlooks a beautiful cove. The pools are lovely and clean and never very busy. However as we went in the October half term please be aware anyone taking children from around 12 upwards this is not the place to go as Cala D'or was literally closing down around us every night! By the end of the hols it was like a ghost town. I can imagine going in July/August and it being great as there are a lot of things to do whilst walking in to Cala D'or but as we had bad weather quite a bit things were a little depressing here. We went to some lovely places to eat the main one that did fantastic food was Barloventos which is an Italian - always busy here. Dont eat at the hotel as we paid on a Sunday night to eat here and it was awful. I am not being picky as we are well travelled but either they were running out of options or seemed to be catering for the Dutch/Germans as I've never seen such a poor buffet consisting of a lot of pickled veg. With regard to the rooms. Yes very very clean but I asked for a high quiet floor overlooking one of the pools? Well we got a high floor over looking the super market which was so noisy in the morning with cleaners at 6.30 wheeling trolleys, people dropping stuff off at the supermarket etc. Not good. Sad thing was the Azul was empty and most of the Esmerala was closed - it would have been such a treat to get one of the rooms overlooking a pool or sea view as most were empty but alas not to be.

"A great holiday!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
As we read the reviews before we went we were wondering what to expect! But we had a great time! Other reveiwers must be very very picky!
Cleanliness-Wow! the rooms were cleaned 5 days a week, with the towels changed each time. The maids mopped the floors, hoovered etc. We tried to tip the maid but she would not except money so we gave her chocolate instead!- it worked! The resturant extreamly clean as is the rest of the hotel grounds.
Entertainment- The reps(all but two of a different nationality-but didnt bother us)were fab. The kids loved them. The hotel night shows wernt great as all miming but saw other various acts at cala d'or and went shopping! The reps got the kids (and the adults!) involved.
Location- Cala D'or is quite quiet but there was enough places for us! The hollywood bar is great. Children loved the bunjee jumps! Spar close but quite expensive. Right by the beach-absoloutly fab!!!! we went snorkling so we saw loads of fish which we enjoyed. Dad went wind surfing only 5 mins away-hillarous!
Other nationalities- I dont no why people complaind about them. We made friends with lots of German families and it is great to meet lots of new people. We met a hungarian and duthch families too who were lovely.
Xtra- At first our 12 yr old daughter thourt their was no1 her age and she wasnt going to enjoy the hol. She loved it! So ignore the rubbish reviews(we think the people might just be miserable!) and get booking ps-food was good!
Hope this helps, thanks

"Cala Azul Park"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Having visited Cala D'or 4 times we decided on a different apartment complex for a change, we were not dissapointed. The views from our apartment although not best on the comples were amazing , the sea and the pool. The apartment had maid service 9 out of our 11 days and she did a fantastic job the standards on this complex are immaculate, bins emptied constantly the maids even polish the showers and pool rails every morning. Air conditioning is free in all rooms and we were lucky enough to have lovely dark cane patio furniture on the balcony. The complex is in an ideal location and approx 5 mins walk from the various restaraunts and snack bars. Duke of Devonshire is certainly the best for breakfast and the Acuamarina on the marina is very classy and the meals were wonderful. The prices are a little high at some places and on average a beer was approx 340 euros. However the Hacienda Bar is the cheapest at 2 euros and 3 euros for cocktails. The staff and the party atmosphere in that bar is second to none and goes on till 4am every day if you can stand the pace. As we had our 18n year old son with us i was worried he would be bored but once he found the Hacienda he was sorted and made great friends with staff and customers alike. I felt he was totally safe to roam around Cala D'or and this was another reason we returned. The Tropical Gardens and the tribute bands is another good night and The Four Tops were fantastic. Cala D'or is an amazing place and the people are very friendly. I would return year after year and to these apartments again but if you want to request the best apartments ask for nos E or F block Azul Park nos 101 to 107 they have the best views of the sea and pool and are ground floor so no steps. Wouldnt book with Thomas Cook again however had a few concerns regrding the airport and they were no help whatsoever ended up visiting Going Places and even though we hadnt booked with them they couldnt do enough to help , thumbs up for their customer service.
