"Good value"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Stayed four nights, May 20-23. We had booked a queen room, but were upgraded to a king suite on arrival with no additional charge. Hotel was clean and nice, staff was friendly and very helpful. Free breakfast every morning which included scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, pastries, yogurt, cereal, cheese, waffles, coffee, juice, etc. The suite had a separate 'living room' area with a full couch and chair, also a kitchen area with a deep sink, refrigerator, and microwave oven. And easy walk to many great restaurants. Good value, we would stay here again.

"Great hotel"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We got really lucky and randomly booked the Renaissance Arts through Priceline (picked 4 stars and warehouse district) for a ridiculously low price. I was really really impressed especially given the price we paid. The hotel common areas and our room were extremely clean and everything looked very new (rugs are not worn, rooms don't smell like smoke, modern fixtures and furniture). Thankfully, the hotel was not full of rowdy Bourbon street revelers - probably given its distance from the French Quarter. We are used to walking in NYC so it was no problem to walk to the FQ and beyond (one day we walked from the Bywater all the way to the hotel - which is a great walk if you want to see some interesting neighborhoods and architecture). The St. Charles streetcar is only a few blocks away and very convenient to go to the Garden District and Uptown (although streetcar service is spotty so we had to call a cab after waiting 45 minutes on the way back). Service was very friendly and helpful but I think they are a little understaffed (which I can't really complain about given the price we paid). The art throughout the hotel was interesting and very colorful without being too gaudy.
